I actually went to the same Albert Heijn store while visiting Amsterdam. On our last day, we took our suitcases and filled them with all the good food. I probably bought like 15 Snelle Jelle packs :D
i love the autodrop myself. the pink ones. they are so good. snelle jelle is not really to my liking but its really good if you like those kind of things
For the pancakes, you should buy the powder mix and add milk/water and eggs. those taste a lot better than these fabric poffertjes. That is, if you have the chance to prepare it.
Interesting tour, but I'd rather buy from small shops as a first choice: less plastic packaging and support for small local businesses. AH doesn't need any promotion to thrive, small shops do!
I shouldn't be watching this while I'm in the Philippines and traveling for two more months. Now I'm craving EVERYTHING. Hashtag first world problems 🙊
SmokaziLLa these dishes and snacks are all pre made. Us dutcies make the most of this stuff ourselves at home! So u can buy this, or look up the recipe and make it your self! 💋
If you buy cheese at the Albert Heijn, please buy something at the fresh section and not those pre-sliced things in hard plastic. They taste almost the same as the packaging: like plastic haha!
@josien31 I agree with that. You can buy the best cheese directly from the farmer or in the cheese shop, and not in the supermarket. The farmer's cheese has so much more flavor than the factory cheese from the supermarkets. if you have tasted that, you dont want a supermarket cheese anymore. Believe me. The difference in quality is big.
Just remembered One of my indian Bengali friend from school left India and settled in Amsterdam. He is married to Dutch girl and just had princess. He was in Kolkata for the occassion, but is back. If you need more inputs about India you might be able to get home tution 😁.
We just moved to the Netherlands from America and our new Dutch friends actually made us Boeren Kool. It's sooo good! We make it ourselves all the time now haha :) We should meet up and chat sometime!! We could use more friends in our new country ^.^
i'm Dutch myself and i love almost all the food you reviewed haha. It's great that you prenounce the words with an english accent therefor us, uk, canadian etc people better understand what you mean. Great video btw but i am curious... are you american yourself? cause you said you moved to the netherlands. Sorry i was wondering haha. your sincerly.
@@Calidore1 kinda. But she does a great Job. Like Michiel huisman the actor from game of thrones for example is dutch but has an awesome accent just as Carice van houten. It's just impressive.
Eindhoven was my hometown They pronounce the soft G living in ontario canada now loved the virtual trip back home missing Nasi goreng as well and kroepoek thanks for the video
lol that is not an albert heijn invention. kiwiland already had those basket trollies a decade ago and probably many countries have them too for such a long time
Cheese from the supermarket is not so good as cheese from a cheesestand on a market. And Frambozenvla is also very good, but they don't sell it everywhere.
oh my god so much veg option.. on my first visit to amsterdam i only ate at Wok to walk.. i always like to try local food how i regret dint find this video before..
Yes, I enjoyed shopping in Albert Heijn & Hema. The supermarket is so well arranged and it is a pleasure shopping there. Albert Heijn's emblem looks like the hindi alphabet "ka". 😂
I personally can't aggree with the part about buying cheese at the AH and having the same quality as a farmers cheese or cheese from a Special shop. It's a bit more expensive but the best Cheese is bought from the farmer himslef or his store.
You go girl! \o/
Hele leuke video Ivana!
Moving over in 2 weeks from Scotland. I was just there last week and was in and out of the shop. I was trying to find my way about as they were really different from Scottish spupermarkets. This one in the video will actually be my closest Albert heijn when I move and I’ve not yet been to it! One thing I found mad was that you guys use sprinkles on toast. It’s totally normal and there was a huge section at the albert Heijn at Vijzelstraat. Such a strange combination but I’m definitely going to try it out.
Very good tour, I do not think you missed anything. The only thing which is not very common is putting appelstroop on top of cheese. One thing has to be said: you can find all the food mentioned in any Albert Heijn (AH) in the Netherlands, but most AH's do not sell souvenirs. That's typical for the extra large AH in the tourist center of Amsterdam. If you buy a lot do take a bigger cart so you do not have to pick up everything from the floor at the counter. Hvala mnogo.
Maybe I can think of one you forgot afterall: Erwtensoep, also called snert. Very traditional soup in winter, again with rookworst. I think it's disgusting though.
you probably never have eaten fresh boerenkool or any stampot, because those premade are horrible and the premade poffertjes and pancakes are horroble also? just make them fresh. really? why eat factory food when making it fresh is so much better and very easy. Never buy the package cheese? buy fresh, it is a world of difference? are you payed by AH? it is like you never eat fresh, everything is from AH, even the cakes.
+Bjorn Slangen you can buy almost everything fresh. if you're a tourist you should try most of the things but not from the super market. albert heijn is arguably the best supermarket in the netherlands but premade food can't compare to fresh in most cases.
+romeomuradin I was most definitely not payed (I wish LOL). Ever since I was a little girl (coming as a refugee to the Netherlands) I've loved AH and their offer. Better to ask next time before drawing conclusions ;-)
+ZWGamemasterGame Actually I did eat all of those things fresh because I live in Amsterdam and my boyfriend is 100% Dutch. Hate to break it to 'ya but most Dutchies eat prepackaged foods and they taste fine. Also if you have ever traveled before you know you're not going to cook as a tourist AND our cheese at the AH beats any cheese abroad. Not saying you're not right about fresh products. I'm just saying it's not what the average Dutch person eats. As a long time traveler that's what I'm looking for (what the average person in that country eats). Therefore I recommend it to my other fellow travelers. Better to ask before you pass judgement ;-).
Please, if you're going to try 'Bossche bollen', only try the real ones from Jan de Groot (Den Bosch/ 's-Hertogenbosch)! The ones from the supermarket won't ever taste as GOOD as the real ones! 😍
So for the vlaai you should go to limburg, but the bossche bollen sold by ah are just fine?!?! Hell no, they are not the real thing, not even close. Sorry, this brabander just had to get that out ;)
Love your videos. One thing to note about Albert Heijn is that they only accept cash or local debit cards. So if you go to Albert Heijn to shop, bring cash!
I wish they had something like Albert Heijn in Australia. I bought so much stuff there when I was in Amsterdam. I wish they made Febo a worldwide thing too. It would be so popular!
I visited Amsterdam last year for the first time and remember being super fascinated by the Albert Heijn foods. Their packaging is so beautiful I went around the whole supermarket taking photos lol. You didn't talk about the drinks in the video. I remember not being thirsty at all but buying the cashew cacao nut drink anyways. They have very short expiry so you know they're all pretty fresh! And when I thought AH is amazing, I went into this place called Marqt that has an even more amazing collection of produce in probably award-winning level packaging designs. I mean, they make me want to buy dish-washing liquid while I am on vacation. lol. I love Netherlands - I know it's more than Amsterdam and Holland but I am sure I would love them all!
it's not koedah....it is Gouda teach the colonials to pronounce it right...and don't buy artificial aged fake like "old Amsterdam"...cheese you buy in a cheese shop where you can but it better and cheaper than from AH
you can find an albert heijn in almost every ducth place. Most of the time you will find multiple albert heijn's in a place you are staying. But most of the product's highlighted in this video, you can find it in any bigger dutch supermarket (Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Dirk, Plus, etc.)
Watching this video I’ve put on 5 pounds. Seriously great video. My Grandmother came from Rotterdam, and one day in the local supermarket I found a cheese called Rotterdam. It wasn’t cheap, but I had to buy it. It was fantastic. Sadly it isn’t always available. Another Dutch treat that’s becoming available are stroopwafels. I enjoy them for breakfast with my coffee on weekends. Again thank you, I need to check out your other videos.
I really must say that the 'vla'', the pudding as you called, had run down in quality through the years. When I was young, I'm 66 now, you bought it from the dairyman who came at the door every day. It was sold in real bottles. And the content whas not so fluid as nowadays in the packages. No, it was thick. I've never bought ''vla'' in the supermarket. Lovely video.
poffertjes r really good i love all kinds of pancakes, crepes, poffertjes,n the german pfannkuchen;) ,also dutch raisin bread is great, but i eat it with nutella : the netherlands they have it all the time,in germany u get them only some months before christmas just a fun fact 9:17 the milka chocolate is great, its from switzerland also popular in germany,i even love that cake with butter,ne ye dutch lakritz is number one;) 11:30 werther original r german;)
