This is the equipment I put together to archive our old family and friends videos going back to 1970's. Most tapes were originally VHS and later switched to Mini-DV. I found some Sony studio DV equipment on Ebay which was not cheap. Since the DVCAM had a SDI output had to purchase a SDI to Thunderbolt converter to save them to the workstation. The other Sony DV Deck (expensive) has firewire output to my Lenovo T510 equipped with Firewire port. The VHS tapes were passed through my old ADVC 100 analog to digital converter then to firewire to the T510. I have since found a firewire express card for the P50 workstation, however it took a lot of work, time and experimentation to get it to accept firewire input and now it works fine, but took lots of "fiddling". None of the suggestions I found on Internet worked so had to start from square one.
