Nice video this, I watched Kelly at Hull when he first started out, people lose sight of the fact he suffered horrendous injuries in that first season in a crash at Hackney when he flipped it while leading and was run over by Bobby McNeil in full broadside. Kelly still went on to not only recover but become a truly world class rider, who I think peaked in 1982 when under the guidance of Bob Dugard, putting aside all the clichés about wasted natural talent etc he really was a master at getting his wheels in line exiting a bend and could generate tremendous speed down the straight, which he could scrub off entering the next bend by keeping his front wheel straight as he threw the bike into the corner. At the end of the day Kelly when he was in the mood was a fabulous speedway rider to watch and a major force to be reckoned with.....if ever you had any aspiritions to be a speedway rider Kelly was everything you could ever wish to be....so sad his life ended like it did RIP Kelly......SeeYa !
