As an adult, I enjoy this episode more, but I have to admit that as a child, watching this episode really frustrated me.

They remind me of the parents in The Big Kids sketch on Blue Collar TV! They told Ronnie (Jeff Foxworthy) to use his words. So then Ronnie turns to his brother Blake (Bill Engvall) and said, "I'm going to hit you really hard!" 😂

@@the1magageneral323 I don't know. I knew a little girl called Madeline who pitched a fit if you called her anything other than "Maddie". I knew Beths, and Lizzies who freaked out if called "Elisabeth". Beckys who screamed if you called them "Rebeca". Abbys who refused to acknowledge you if you referred to her as "Abigail". A few Bellas and Izzys who refused to be called Isabella. I knew a Dakota who went by Cody. If called Dakota he would still answer you. But if another kid called him "Dakota" he just seemed confused. Same with Tony and Billy if you called them Anthony or William. It was usually only girls who flipped out if you referred to them as their full name and not their nickname. Kids are just weird sometimes.

I genuinely can't blame Arthur for much of anything in these episodes. He's a victim of blatant favoritism, half the time I feel like he's parentified, and his parents rarely seem to even bother listening to him. I have my own DW (though much older than four, which is worse), and yeah, looking back on my childhood, Arthur displays all the same frustrations I did. All he asks for is basic respect and his parents to do their job, and they fail at both time and time again. Arthur's being taught to settle for scraps and being a doormat, and that's further compounded every time he stands up for himself and demands better treatment, and inevitably gets in trouble for it.

Yeah. I hated her too, but she wasn’t a complete sociopath and showed that she actually cared whether or not her brother is missing/might be dead in the case of her dream.

Well, by "The Rhythms and Roots of Arthur" D.W. gets to like her full name when she learned she was named after a great-grandaunt and when a new llama has been born on the farm they go to, she picks the name Dora for it. (Well, I would hope that she wouldn't pick that name if she hated it!)

@@HuskyDog88 Even if they were technically created by different PBS affiliates. Not to mention that Between the Lions' premiere on April 3 of that year replaced a show created by KCET known as "The Puzzle Place" which had ceased reruns three days earlier.

The anthropomorphic "animals" in this universe are really nothing but humans differing only in the heads. Anatomy-wise, everything of them from the neck down is that of a human-they have no tails, no paws, no claws, no fur-everything of them is that of a human. I have pinpointed this in other videos of Arthur episodes.

At least Angelica has an excuse via emotionally absent parents who only care about her insofar as a porcelain doll. DW's parents at least try to pay attention to their youngest child, albeit poorly and misguidedly.
