"Some saying it's a dead game on Steam forums." Oh boy, not gonna even glance there, just gonna say some of us have been here for 10 years or more and this, this is fast. Be patient, ToadyOne and ThreeToe will deliver, they always do. Might be the most dedicated duo in the industry.
I really wanna play more adventure mode but I think i'm gonna wait for the quest log to be implemented, but this is so cool! Seeing those notebook mockups was lit
Wasn’t expecting another beta update so soon. This is wonderful news! Edit: Also, as much as I absolutely agree with you on wanting once a week updates, I don’t know how feasible that is on the implementation side for the team. I’m speaking as a programmer myself. Again though, I am 100% on your side. I would absolutely love patches at a once a week cadence.
I dont know why anyone would think this is a "dead game". I picked up DF pretty early on when it hit steam, put in 100 hours and let it cook. Its one of those games I just assume I will want to come back and play every few months or maybe years and be like - "Oh wow this is new" ... kinda like Project Zomboid. The game is great but its a labor of love. And honestly would anyone be happy if they said, "games done, not adding or working on it anymore" XD No, please, take your time and work on it as much as you need XD I would even pick up dlcs (if it was like 2 or 5 bucks) now and then just to help out.
Glad to hear about the crafting. Making a crazy strong adventurer and training them to get really good at throwing sharpened rocks / stone axes was always my jam.
The Gorlak is such a perfect creature they came out fully formed and fleshed out design-wise right from the start. I'm kinda still waiting for a quest tracking system (unless that was already added in idk) but I may jump back in eventually because I feel like I didn't give it a fair enough shake.
yeah now that butchery and being able to use powers is in i'll be playing a lot more, though it's probably not far along enough yet to keep me playing for hours at a time
I'm going to hold out a bit longer for Adventure Mode to be more feature complete. Not aiming for 100%, just enough I can build a longer term story for a character.
Hey blind! In my recent fort, dwarves from one moment to another fall unconscious, have nausea and winded effect, and then they simply die. What can I do? Its not cave adaptation, bc they are inside
Do they do that in the tavern?? If so, then it's alcohol poisoning. Dwarfen tavern keeper are built different, where they would give drink again and again to a same person even though they fall unconscious. Imagine you're drunk on the floor with mouth open then someone keep pouring you those booze till you suffocated Solution? Use minimal to no tavern keeper and let your dwarves drink on their own
Sounds like poisons or something maybe beast dust contamination. I would lock the area down and figure out if there is something that is infecting the dorfs. Make sure they have soap and a well to clean themselves.
This was a bug fixed in beta18--the game wasn't calculating old syndromes correctly if they were from a previous year, so they'd have a large negative age, which would cause alcohol to built up in their bodies until their drunkenness would reach a positive age, at which point the effects of every drink they had had from the point of unretire up until that point would hit them all at once. Unfortunately, any saves that were saved after the bug happened will keep the bug--but it won't happen again, at least
I'm really looking forward to procedural magic, a system like you'll have a bolt spell but whether it is cold or flame or something else being generated at the start. They should just go absolutely wild with this. Maybe a noita inspired spell creation system.
Excited to give crafting for a spin! Even more excited to finally feast on the flesh of my foes rather than just lick their blood off my socks like I'd been doing 👍
Finally my saltwater crocodile man cam roam the lands without starving! Also can anyone tell me how I can build my reputation, ive slain a few beasts and bandits but no recognition?
Have you told anyone about it? If you bring stuff up in conversation the rumour mechanics should spread around how cool you are. Also doing specific defined quests helps.
