I wonder when it started that dwarves had a scottish (or irish? I'm not a native english speaker) accent. The idea of bearded dwarves living under mountains, smithing and smelting, came from germanic mythology and legends where also Tolkien had his inspiration from. Blizzard kinda destroyed the fantastical and unique race of the dwarves which very solely born out of ancient legends and mythology because now i always have to think about scottish/irish people with long beards :'D

@@navyflyboy07 How so? Or did I miss something? I never read Lord of the rings in English, maybe there are differences in it. But Tolkien was also able to speak German (and a lot other languages) and even changed some of the words of the German translation himself. All according to lore and mythological background. Well, and in Tolkiens world they speak dwarvish. The Dwarven alphabet is directly inspired by germanic runes.
