In this 650 point battle report we have my Army of Thror going up against Sean's Dale army. Its a super fun match up that is a super close game. Kingdom of Azragor Kickstarter: www.kickstarte...
Fantastic batrep Jacob! You might just convince me to start Army of Thror after all. The new audio is fantastic. Excellent work! No echoes and everything is crystal clear!
Thank you for the Batrep! I'm happy I found your channel. Me and my brother are LOTR fans and loved the models since they first came out with the little magazine. It's been about 20 years and planning a comeback :D
Awesome batts report! Army of Thror is my favorite army in the game too! I play them as more of a horde myself though since we don’t use the veto system and sometimes you just need march or the extra models for board control.
Thanks for the comment, I am planning on adding some dwarves with spear and shield to the army but I love playing it super elite. The heroes are just so fun to use!
Great Batrep, you've been getting lots of these out lately and they are amazing, thanks. Close Batrep, how many points would Sean have won by if it had finished 1-2 turns before? Welcome back Sean.
Great batrep, every time I see you upload a new one it brings a big smile on my face About the windlances deployment: shouldn’t they be deployed first 6 inches from the player board because they are siege weapons?
Nice game and appreciate the sportsmanship of you guys voicing the rationale behind decisions. Army of thror is the coolest army despite its paltry troop variety 💪🏻
My goodness what a game! What I find interesting about MESBG is that often, the final score doesn't really convey how close the game was. In a lot of games, if you tell someone you lost 3 to 8, it would sound a lot more like a tough loss. But this, literally came down to the last turn, and games like that are so much fun to play and even watch.
I'm a big fan of Army of Thror, I plan to take them to the Melbourne SBG Cup in a couple months. Turns out, D7+ is really hard to deal with at low points levels!
18:14 Curious how the terrain is played here. We Durak Deep terrain in our community. Normally, we’d play the model in the doorway is in a defended position. The attacks who won the fight would need to roll In The Ways for their strikes. As the creator of the terrain, was that the intention or are we playing that wrong?
@@wyndhamrobertson5384 If it’s not considered a defended position, then they did it perfectly fine. For me, I’m just trying to understand if it’s defended or not.
Fun fact, Sean misheard me when I said we are playing 650 and he brought 750 points of Dale. Given that he had two wind lances it ended up being equivalent to 600 points hahaha
Windlance in Dale must be top contender for being the most terrible unit in the game, especially because of the cost. Even if Sean hadn't charged round 2, he would get one more round of shooting. Where he probably would only score a dead soldier for the dwarves. I personally think that revamping it into a normal crossbow (so no half movement) with volley fire would make it more effective (less bad), whereas it has about 50% chance of wounding one high value per turn.
Thanks for the question, you can choose not to make way (When you model who isn't engaged in the fight moves out of the way), but you must move back 1" if possible with the model who lost the fight. In this case Sean's model could move back so wouldn't be trapped.
Really unfortunate about the “gameyness” of the scenario - not to spoil anything but actively trying to lose fights and get your own units killed seems… off. Oh well though, I guess that’s the scenario. Good batrep regardless.
Wonderful game ! Had to worry about Sean luck there, almost no dice would ever go in his side... Be brave, you're not alone ! remember me of my last tournament in Belgium x)
Great video, Jacob 👏 I love these Battle Reports, I learn a lot 🙏 I bought a windlace to start a Dale army and I thought it was good, but now I have doubts 😅 is there any way to use it well? Ahahaha I'm very much looking forward to the new Kickstarter project 😀
Recently I have been playing a lot of smaller points games. I haven't played an 800 point game in ages! One of our upcoming Battle reports is going to be a massive one and after that I might have a look at a 750-800 point game
Also don't listen to me despite mostly playing rather shooty/movable lists I often commit early so both players can have a game. It's my opponent, not my enemy, we are here to have fun.😂
@@nickahlbach5064 cause it looks cool on camera. I leave my serious and well thought out lists, strategies and what not for tournaments and competitive batreps in favour for rule of cool. -Sean
