Graeme O'Neil takes a look at Brendan Fraser breaking down as his film "The Whale" received a 6-minute standing ovation after it premiered at the Venice Film Festival, and Dwayne Johnson's reaction to the viral video.
He and Keanu Reeves strike me as two of the most sincere and genuine "stars" in the past thirty years. Humility and gratitude are not weaknesses, they're signs of a strong character. Wishing Brendan a triumphant and successful return.
He truly deserves all the praise and love. I don't care what he looks like or what his weight is, I'm just glad he's recovered from his surgeries and is happy. I think that's all anyone wants for Brendan at this point, is for him to be happy and loved.
I agree, it doesn’t matter how big his fat ass is, how many trucks loaded with burgers he eats a day, how many pizza stores he visits a day, how many gallons of milkshakes he drinks a day, how many ice cream trucks he stops a day, how many scales he has broken, how many chocolate factories he visits a day, so despite all of that he is a good guy! 😁
@GrantKP he was molested by the Hollywood Foreign Press President, which is will get any man blacklisted. And, his abusive ex-wife gave him a terrible divorce.
Everyone from the 80s and 90s who grew up watching Brendon was always wondering where he went and missed him. We would definitely like to have him back. He deserves it.
@@foreignwarren7361 you left your lonely corner just for that comment? If you don't agree then why are you here? We love Brendan and if you don't then move on.
couldnt be happier as a 93 baby, well, i could, if he was never gone, but then i wouldnt get the tear jerking heart tug of seeing his return after feeling his absence
Brendan deserves more than just a standing ovation. He deserves justice to what has been done to him in the past. Let’s all rally together in supporting his new movie and make him shine brighter as before.
People love him not just cause he is a good actor but he is too humble that something you don't see a lot in Hollywood & dot forget he was a victim not just by been sexual harassed but his wife divorced him & took all his money that help him get depression sadly women don't love good guys fraser deserves more than that
Brendan Fraser was such a big part of my childhood; The Mummy films, George of the Jungle, Inkheart. This comeback is well deserved! We love you Brendan!!

Brendan sitting and looking unsure and insecure during the standing ovation just breaks me. You can see that he's happy for Darren but doesn't know how he fits in to that, doesn't think this praise is for him. And then when Darren turns is like, "Bro, stand up, this is your moment!" the crowd cheers even louder and you can see it all hit him at once. Such a beautiful, humble, gem of a man.
I felt the same way that you did. BRENDAN FRASIER is a diamond in the rough, and black listing him to ruin his amazing career, totally backfired on those creeps involved in covering up what happened to Brendan!! They could have said something but instead they decided they were going to back up the CREEP who MOLESTED Brendan!!! Well now, KARMA will finally be bestowed upon him and the rest of those CREEPS Involved in this! I hope Brandon will now have the best choice of movies to do now, and I could care less whether he got back into shape or not! He could stand to lose a some weight, just to be healthier, but otherwise it doesn't affect how I see him at all. He's still Gorgeous distinguished older gentleman. Reminds me of the character in Blast from the past! Hopefully like the ending, he finds the love of his life, and they marry, and he has amazing luck and instead of the baseball cards making him rich, Brendan will now star in movies that people love again, and he will (hopefully) win all kinds of awards for his amazing acting chops, and that would be the BIGGEST F-YOU to those who took his career away from him for years. And that would also be some mighty fine POETIC JUSTICE right there!!!! LOL !! WE 😘 🥰😍 💖 💖 💖 💖 YOU SO MUCH BRENDAN!!!! CANT WAIT TO SEE YOUR NEXT MOVIE!!!! ⭐✨✨💖💖💋💥💥💋💖 💖 ✨✨ ⭐
Hes been in the show doom patrol as the character robotman its a dc comics tv show its really good he does a great job if u want more of him. Even tho it's mostly just him doing the voice of the character
Honestly it broke my heart to see those tears. Why? Because this was so overdue and this man went through so much hell for so long. Those tears were from the shock of feeling love from a world he believed forgot he existed. No one should have to feel that way. Least of all a gentle soul like Brendens.
They did forget he existed, and they'll throw him away just like before, as soon as they aren't able to profit off of him. Where has Dwayne Johnson been the last 10 years?
@@richarddukard8989 exactly. Hollywood is a cesspool. Hell Mel Gibson put it best when he described Hollywood from his own experiences. “They love when you show up ignorant, innocent with country mud on your boots. They find it fascinating and they lick you all over and flatter you and build you up. Then one day they pull the rug out from under you and just shrug and say “It’s nothing personal”. They trade children around as a currency and feed off of misery. The more misery the better.
@@Bonnysnipes short version. Brendan Frazier came forward about being molested by a high profile producer and because the guy was connected he was able to ruin Brendan’s career. And for ten plus years his life was in ruins. His wife left him and took him for everything he had. He was black listed and just now got his life back. And the same people that did this to him are trying to act like they were on his side the whole time when they didn’t give him any help at his worst time. That’s the short version.
This man has been sexually abused and when things like that happen to a person, it changes your life completely. I am so proud that he called out his abused, it’s so sad that he was blackballed for it. So happy that he got the praise he so deserved and pray we continue to see him in on the big screen a lot more, because we all know he’s a wonderful actor.
@@deez2569 It's about the truth. There is no sense to this idea that he has been blacklisted. How does a mediocre actor get six movies in 4 years (since he accused), with three more not yet released, with one of those being a DC property and the other being a Scorsese film, get to be described as "blacklisted?"
This brought tears to my eyes. When I was a kid I wanted to grow up and be just like Rick O'Connell, able to roll with the punches, always be brave, and willing to take on challenges head on and do what needs to be done to fight evil. When Brendan Frasier told the story about how hard he tried with his physical roles and the toll they took on his body, and how he was victimized by a predator, and all of the things he has dealt with, my heart went out to him and I really was rooting for his success and recovery. I'm glad Brendan Fraser received such a warm reception at this premier. I hope the universe keeps sending him goodness. Brendan Fraser is the sort of person that brings people together. What an awesome soul.

Brendan Fraser is iconic for anyone that grew up in the '90's. I am so happy for him and wish him the best. I can't imagine how hard it would be to have your life constantly in the lime light. As if "failure" can be measured on whether Hollywood accepts you or not. He is a great actor and deserves that respect.
Brendan Fraser and Keanu Reeves acts of random kindness have proven to me not all Hollywood actors are conceited and egotistic. We need more actors like them, because showing your vulnerability is not a weakness, but a strength. His emotional intelligence is on a another level, when compared to other arrogant actors, who seem to think the sun shines out of their backside.
It's sad that we were robbed so many years, so many would-be performances from him. He's always been a great actor. I had no idea that stuff happened to him.
@bladrey Right. That pos Philip Berk should face jail time for what he did to Brendan, and possibly others. I'm glad they finally got rid of him last year, but it wasn't from his sexual misconduct with male actors, it was because of an email saying BLM was racist.
Clickbait video title. Liars! "......liars will not go without punishment....seek and you will find.....believe and you will get....agree with anyone about anything and it will be done....and do EVERYTHING in LOVE...""--- The Holy Bible .
I forgot about that movie. Thanks so much for reminding me! Elizabeth Hurley was quite nice (looking) in that movie also. I'm going to have to watch it again
Brendan Fraser is literally one of 3 actors I actually care about in this world and to see him smile and receive the acknowledgment he deserves after all he has been through brings a smile to my face.
Can we add Rick Moranis in there? Dude gave up acting to be a father to his children when his wife was diagnosed with (and saddly succumbed to) cancer. He said being a father was more important than playing make pretend. Also one of tge original SCTV guys. John Candy was a HUGE class act as well. He'd visit children's hospitals between shoots and his costars would have to quietly remind him that they had to go, often several times, before he would tear himself away from terminally ill children. Very sweet man, gone far before his time.
Nobody deserves the accolades more than Brendan Fraser. The man is iconic and a Hollywood legend, and I am so glad to see him reemerging onto the scene and taking on movie rolls again.
RU-vids Trash it's not so much as it doesn't mean anything, it has meaning; it's just that the love that comes from The People, matters more. For decades people have passionately said "the Monkees should be in the rock and roll hall of Fame!" and I always come back, maybe they should; but they are already in The People's hall of Fame, and that's really all that matters. They had 4 records to be #1 on the Billboard 100 in the same year: no artists before or since has done that! That because it's all about if you are in the heart of The People, that's all that matters in life
I met him years ago when my roommate at the time was his Stand-in on one of his movies. He was absolutely one of the nicest people I've met in the business. He deserves all the good will and love he has been receiving and I hope he gets more work because of the response to this role.
Brendan Frasier deserves EVERY ovation, EVERY award and ALL the love WE have for him. I really hope he embraces this love and rides it out. Honestly, I'd love sequels to Encino Man, Bedazzled, George of the Jungle, The Mummy and more.
The mummy movies practically broke him so not sure on a return to that but he is going to play firefly in something... I keep reading that his villain will be imported from that cancelled woke film
This man is a staple to my childhood. It's really sad what happened to him, angering I could do nothing to help him but seeing him coming back like this? I am so proud of that man and he earned himself a spot amongst the greats. We need to continue to bring good men like this up because they have lessons for us and the younger generations that need to be heard and respected.
It is nice to see him get the praise he's been so deserving of.. He'll always remain the legendary Rick O'Connell from The Mummy movies. I still watch them from time to time, since it's one of my favourite franchise movies in cinema. Glad he got the standing ovation for his movie, The Whale. Good to see him back "happy and healthy."
I saw Brendan in person at the Mill Valley Film Festival last fall after a screening of The Whale. He seems so authentically kind, gentle and humble. Honestly, I don't know what I expected, but not that he would be such a seemingly gentle soul. Also, an outstanding performance.
Suffering? I just think he's super moved by all of the love and praise he's receiving from his colleagues, the industry and the world at large. And it's probably especially moving since he wasn't working too much over the years and then to have a comeback that gets the embrace that he has gotten with it must be amazing. Idk... maybe you know or see something I don't. Why do you think he's suffering though?
Yeah in some of the interviews it seems like he's slowly opening up. Especially with Drew Barrymore on her show he was joking and relaxed by the end, but he still seems really timid and nervous a lot of the time. Hopefully this is the start of good things and him regaining his confidence.
@movingonandup Bro, you don't know? He was blacklisted by Hollywood because he came out about how he was Is sexually abused by a man named Philip Berk. The aftermath of that ended things for him pretty quick. His wife divorced him and took all his money and continued to take a percentage of every paycheck he's ever had since then. He had gone into a deep depression and is still battling his demons to this day.
@@jamiewilliams6437 Holy Sh*t! I had no idea! Omg... that is so terrible. Just on personality and not performances (because I haven't seen The Whale yet), I hope Brendan wins now more than ever, especially after hearing that. Damn! Thank God he won the Critics Choice Award for his performance at least. At least he got that positive experience after all that crap that happened to him. Hollywood can be harsh and cruel as hell!
He absolutely does deserve all the love that he is getting, Brenden is such a amazing actor and genuinely loveable human being. Congratulations on all your successes and can't wait to get back to the theaters
I’m a 90s kid I grew up watching his movies, I love this man to death, I loved everything he has done, everything he has made. This man is a great man.
I have loved this mans work for years. The depth of his roles to the strength of his character is unmatched. He is rare artist with a soul deep talent that makes him a true treasure. Shame on Hollywood for not respecting him as he should have been. Bad actors who ignored a crime against him as if it didn't happen. The shame lies in an industry that DOESN'T end these assaults. Remaining silent makes you complicit in those crimes. Brenden, you are treasure in the stories bring to the world. Thank you for all wonderful treasures you gifted us with.
@Brendan Fraser vs The Truth Unless you were present during the sexual assault you are throwing shade to justify your utter crap. Crawl back into the sewer from which you came.
I love this man! He is such a great actor and was so missed. Glad he's back! His ovation was so overdue. Can't wait to see him in more movies in the future. Glad to see you back Brandon! His tears said it all.
Brendan Fraser has always made me feel like he’s a friend or family member that I just want to root for no matter what. He seems so honest and genuine that it breeds a sense of familiarity. Sincerely hoping for the very best for him.
I was disappointed when I realized he was no longer on the big screen. But now he's back and I'm so pumped to see him in many more films. This guy is a fantastic actor!
Brendan deserves every good thing that comes to him from here on out. I have admired this man for many years, and I am thrilled beyond words that he is acting again. Way to go Brendan.
He was blacklisted. And for no good reason. That standing ovation is all over TikTok. First time I saw it, I SOBBED! This guy was put through something he didn't deserve! Graeme...now you got me sobbing again!!
He talks with such sincerity and genuineness and when he was sitting there while everyone was applauding him and almost broke down.. seriously I almost cried.. so happy he had his comeback some of my fav. Movies are Brendan Fraser movies.
He is a wonderful actor and takes me back to much younger days. I look forward to seeing that film and I’m so glad you showed this video. Hope he continues to act again. Very kind and talented man in my opinion.
I have never not loved this man. How CAN you not love him?? He deserves ALL the love and accolades he's getting and has deserved them for far longer than he's been getting them
ive always liked brendan fraser, never knew why he started losing his exposure but dammit i am glad to see him back. Hes just a great presence on screen, no matter the role. I hope hes happy and it makes me SO happy that hes still in love with his craft, to the point that this experience moved him to tears. Its heartwarming to see it, ya know?
The relationship between Brendan's character in The Whale and the actress who played his daughter is, quite frankly, astonishing, mindblowing and touching beyond words. They deserve a joint Oscar....this film shows the ability this Director has in resurrecting careers of talented and gifted actors who may have lost their way. Well done guys...GREAT FILM...a real weepy.
Brendan is a humble man and not full of himself like other hollywood types. He is a man with a true passion for performing a role whatever it may be. He is the real deal. I have nothing but respect for him. The first two Mummy films were and still are my favorite popcorn flicks. I still watch them to this day. They never get old. He is a great actor. I look forward to seeing the Whale. Welcome back Brandon.
I've always enjoyed Brendan Fraser; he struck me as an actor with much more intelligence than some of the roles he has played. I also saw the original Off-Broaday production of The Whale and found it brilliant and devastating. I will be for sure be seeing the movie version when it is released here in the States.
After reading the article on Fraser where he explained his journey with his family, I completely believed in him. The Mummy's first two movies showed his great comedic timing and physical acting. Sadly his health, especially injuries caused by previous projects, was not at it's best. But his change in appearance has allowed people to see the depth and range of his talent. So happy that he is in more projects!
totally agree. he was more goofy, and charming back then, as how people want to view him as. now hes an actual actor, the depth in his acting will show and i hope us, gen y and z will accept him for who he is now without thinking how he was then.
More important than his formidable acting skills, more important than any amount of fame or financial success, it's the fact that this man is simply a genuinely good soul. Unendingly happy to see that he has overcome some pretty horrific stuff and that, while he is a sweet and feeling guy, he's obviously made of some seriously tough stuff and that he's back and able to share his talent with us again.
I am extremely emotional watching Brendan take in the love and admiration from the audience and his peers. He spoke up regarding a very personal experience with sexual assault on his personal being. This is very hard to get the words out and leaves one open to toxic illness if left internalized. He is a talented, sensitive and courageous person who can now see everything in life is a circle and he is coming back to himself in wholeness. I am happy and proud of him. Those of us who know the pain stand up also and applaud. Peace to the World.
Brendan Fraser is one of THE most underrated actors. Ive enjoyed every single movie he has made. And that's way more than I can say about any other actor out there. No comeback in my eyes as he's ALWAYS been there in the movies I watch over and over, especially "Monkeybone" and the Mummy franchise. I wish you the utmost success brother. You're a good dude.
I feel he’s still recovering and perhaps a wee bit fragile, I sincerely hope this gets him back on the map and that he can be in a stronger place. I’d personally like to see all those that colluded in his decline be outed and made to explain themselves.
It is so heartwarming seeing him getting so much love. You can tell his confidence took a HUGE knock at some point. I know so many others have said the same but I have loved the guy since California Man and the Mummy movies and more recently Doom Patrol. Hope to see him in the MCU soon, he deserves a huge paycheck and some mainstream love.
He was sexually abused and when he called out the guy who did it Hollywood threw him out. He also suffered from mental health, and I think physical health, problems as well afterward. So yeah, really glad he's able to make a comeback and get the recognition he deserves.
Man, I cannot tell you how happy I am for Brendan's win! I was sooo nervous before they announced the winner and when his name was said, I jumped out of happiness and did a little dance in my room overwhelmed as if I won Oscar myself hahahaa. His heartbreaking and mindblowing performance in The Whale touched my heart and made me cry. His comeback was nothing less than he himself: stellar. I am so happy and after everything this beautiful man went through...God really exists!!💙🙏🍀😍
I hope this is the start of a massive resurgence in his career. If Brendan Fraser is not one of your favorite actors, then you didn't grow up in the 90s. What a great talent and seems like a classy guy. I hope we see a lot more of him in the years to come.
That's what I can't wrap my head around about his "comeback", why wait soooo long?!?! He could have opened a damn lemonade stand yrs ago & had a line stretching blocks lol people will always show up for Brendan.
@@davidwright873 that's why it's called acting. Those not very manly theater kids from ninth grade can get really good at their craft. If there’s any man that deserves the prayers and love it’s truly this man. The brend-man. The man literally made my childhood and so many movies in as corny as it sounds the guy was there for me when I really needed him, when most of us needed him. I love the man and I wish him all the best

I'm just super happy that Brendan Fraser is back in Hollywood and acting again. He's one of my favorite actors in the 90s and early 2000s. It's a shame what happened to him I believe he should be as big as the most popular celebrities today
I’m happy to see BF getting recognition after all these years. He’s very talented and it’s shame we haven’t been able to enjoy his work for such a long time.
So happy for him. He seems like a really genuine, nice person; not corrupted by Hollywood. Hopefully we can get more movies or something with acting from him.
He is just a really humble guy who has been through a lot and deserves all the accolades that he is receiving for a great role. I hope he wins the Oscar he deserves it.
He's a unique actor, everything he's done, has been great! He has this sensitivity that( let's be honest) It's rare in Hollywood. Him getting emotional, shows how humble and grateful he is, He doesn't need an Oscar to prove that he's a good actor, Him accepting the ovation, got me in tears. The best of good things for him.

I’ve always loved Brendan Fraser. He’s one of my all-time favorite actors, always has seemed like a down to earth guy. I know he’s been through a lot over the last few years. However, he seems to me to be someone that is resilient and can get through all that life throws at him even if it seems insurmountable. I look forward to seeing him in more films again.
LOVE Brendan Fraser, SO, SO happy like everyone else that he is back. Thank you to Dwayne Johnson and any other Star that remembers him and gives Brendan the accolades he deserves.
He is a sensitive, bright, and loving soul that is very rarely seen around the world. I grew up watching his movies, and when I found out what had happened, and all the hardships that followed, I was heartbroken. Seeing how overwhelmed he got for his standing ovation and hearing the cheer grow louder when he stood, just made me so happy. Today he is a hero because he has not only overcame every obstical, but also put forth his story about his own experience and helped others to be saved from what he went through. BRENDAN, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MY HERO! LOVE YOU!
The sincerity on his face and how overwhelming this was for him brought tears to my eyes. I’ve always admired the work he has done, and how down to earth he has been throughout his life. Hope to see more from this brilliant and still beautiful man, with the heart that never fails to touch others and enrich the lives of those that work with him
I admire his perseverance, courage, patience and obvious spiritual intelligence. He deserves all of the accolades he is receiving . Regardless if he is nominated or not, he is a true artist.
We sometimes cry not because we are in pain and certainly not because we are weak. Sometimes it's because we have had to be strong for so long that in moments like that, the tears are a sign of being able to let go for bit. Brendan has gone through so much physical, emotional and mental hardships through out his career and to be given this gift of an ovation, that's everything he went through finally getting that moment to let go for a while. 😊
The moment he talked about being sexually assaulted, he got ignored by people and lost his career. Seems like the opposite of what happens to women who talk about sexual abuse in Hollywood.
@@ayeshak6822 yeah!! I am so glad JD dared to take on the fight for the truth. Now I just hope Brendan Fraser can deal with that Industry again. I can worry for his mental state because he is so warm and sweet in a hard cold Industry. I hope he can handle it 💖
Brendan Fraser is one of those very few "Hollywood types" who never actually became one of those "Hollywood types" in any discernible way. Actors like Gene Wilder, John Candy, Jon Voight, Anjelica Huston, Morgan Freeman, Keanu Reeves, Christopher Walken---all have managed to become great at what they do, yet they didn't allow the film industry to eat them alive and turn them into soulless automatons. Brendan is severely underrated and underappreciated as an actor, and I dare say as a human being, too. I wish him nothing but the best that life has to offer.
I agree, and wouldn't it be nice if a big hollywood blockbuster was made and it only included people like them in the cast, I would personally like to add Kevin Bacon who has always struck me a a very normal sort of man in that cast, I could imagine how refreshing the red carpet would be to be filled with Hollywood talent without an ego anywhere to be seen, I never understand award ceremonies etc when you see someone like Jack Nicholson in an indoor venue wearing sunglasses or those auras that some of them try to carry around with them at all times and I just think for the love of god man, get over yourself !
It's called having integrity and going your own way. If your agent calls you for a 2am meeting at Harvey Weinstein's house to discuss a new movie, you better know you're getting raped and coerced xD
@@nickbrown3979 Nick, you just pointed out one of the Hollywood “elite” who I have loathed my entire life: Jack Nicholson. As an actor, I truly do not see the appeal this guy gives off to anyone-whether it’s director, producer, co-stars, or even the runner on set. Nicholson brings nothing special to the table, because, in my opinion, once you’ve seen one of Nicholson’s films, there’s absolutely no need whatsoever to watch him in anything else. Simply put, he plays the same damn character in every film-only the plot, character name, location, time period, and co-stars differ with each new film he makes, but his character’s personality always remains the same, and oddly enough, it seems to be a mirror reflection of the real Jack Nicholson, which brings me to Nicholson’s private life, or rather, what we know of it and how he’s acted out of control in public. As far back as I can remember (I just turned 58 last month), I have read numerous stories in print (pre-internet) of Nicholson being a complete jackass. Of course, one of his more infamous outbursts was the beating he gave another motorist’s car with a golf club. His irrational, aggressive outbursts towards colleagues and the public are well known and documented. So are his abusive relationships with women, especially his former relationship with Anjelica Huston, which, like the pairing of Quentin Tarantino and Mira Sorvino, always made my skin crawl. You’re right about Nicholson and his silly penchant for wearing sunglasses indoors at nighttime. It’s an image thing that he and many other celebrities try to pull off to seem cool, aloof, or dangerous. But it never works. They just look like idiots.🤣
