I knew you would get into this, and I have more Dweezil coming for you. He was bringing the live Zappa experience to people for over a decade before COVID ground concerts to a halt. Hopefully he will be back when the concert circuit resumes and you can get a chance to experience this music live. I gotta better better video of this band that will make it clearer that Dweezil is a lot like his dad, I'll send you an email with the link soon...who thinks Teez is ready for the Black Page 1&2?

I saw FZ twice, '74 & '77. I've been going to Dweezil's shows for all this time, sometimes twice in the same weekend (Triple Door, Seattle). If you love FZ'z work do go see Da Dweez!!!

Steve Vai (rhymes with eye) is another musician like George Duke who got his start with Zappa but has his own career now and is considered one of the all time great guitarists. He joins Dweezil in many of his Zappa plays Zappa shows.

There will never be another composer ever that will ever be able to do what Frank Zappa did. Peaches En Regalia was dedicated to Dweezil when he was born.

Frank died the year before i was born so i never had the chance to see him. but i have seen dweezil 4 or 5 times and let me tell you they are some of the best live shows i have ever seen. truly amazing musicians doing it for the love of music. extremely well rehearsed, always. just like his dad

👏👍 This is from Zappa's Hot Rats album; you've already done Son of Mr Green Genes and Willi the Pimp from that album. Peaches is sometimes called Zappa's "signature song"; have to say I don't quite understand why, because it isn't really the most typical Zappa song, but it's certainly one of the most famous ones and one most people find accessible. There are like a dozen different versions played by Zappa himself.

Zappa Plays Zappa was a concert Dweezil created to honor the memory of his father and his musical genius. It took him 2 years to learn how to play like his father. Steve Vai ( ai is pronounced like eye) was part of Frank's ensemble of musicians from 1980 - 1983. He was playing the white guitar. "Peaches en Regalia" was the first track on Frank's 2nd solo album "Hot Rats". Oh yes, I saw the concert in Atlantic City, NJ and it was wonderful.

Zappa had a warped sense of humor re naming his kids: Dweezil & Moon Unit 😁 I like this pairing, it's multilayered instrumentally. Feels like I'm back in school with Teez--good job!

I saw Dweezil with Zappa Plays Zappa open for Return To Forever a few years ago and I was blown away by Dweezil's musicianship. They played all these fiery complex chops laden songs flawlessly. Awesome to see a reaction to it.

And the sax player is the same (but older) Napoleon Murphy Brock. Zappa had 4 kids: daughter Moon, son Dweezil, son Ahmet and daughter Diva.

The lady playing flute, sax, keyboards is Sheila Gonzales, simply amazing. Once she played two different saxaphones simultaneously, doing different riffs at the same time. My jaw hit the floor & I had to ask if that really happened.

This is what I'm talking about. I saw Steve Vai when he first started touring with Frank. Terry Bozzio on drums... amazing band. Saw Dweezil several times. He does Frank justice and then some.

I saw Zappa Plays Zappa in Grand Prairie, TX when they opened up for Return To Forever. It was an awesome show. They both killed it. That was back 09/14/2011. That's the last concert I've been to in fact.

Dweezil rhymes with weasel, Vai rhymes with pie. There is another version of this with Dweezil and a ten year old girl on violin. It's phenomenal check it out. The Frank Zappa song "Ya Honza" features three lead guitars, Frank, Steve. Vai, and Dweezil.

Love your reactions, my friend. You dig deep. I was lucky enough to see a (relatively) rare Peaches en Regalia covered by Phish in Boise 9/14/99 - what a show. Thanks and peace *edit - yeah Dweezil is Frank's son, and guitar legend Steve Vai was in Frank's band and is an accomplished and AMAZING guitarist. And both Dweezil & Steve are VERY COOL PEOPLE, as was Frank.

I've always thought that Phish does this song waaaay better than any of the Zappa versions I have heard... Phish just has a richer tone tone, and sound more thoughtful and musically "mature", for lack of a better word, when they do it.

Dweezil is Frank's SON. You should check out Zappa Plays Zappa Zombie Woof Live featuring Steve Vai (rhymes with eye) It Is Amazing. The band is called Zappa Plays Zappa Dweezils tribute to his dad.

@@elysehfm8797 moon unit sings on multiple songs on that album but the part where she gets drafted in Drafted Again, the last song on YAWYI, is classic. I think she was 9 or 10 at the time.

Not Steve Vei, you say Steve Vai with an "a". And Zappa has 4 kids, When Zappa played here in Sweden 1988 Dweezil was also touring and playing with his dad.
