This is such a great cover. Dwele deserves more respect/fame in the music world.

Dwele is truly paying homage to Bobby Caldwell...the complexity of how this song can be portrayed,,,,,as for me that light is Christ ! Check for Bobby's library there are alot more songs that were played on R&B station's unlike today.....Good music is colorless!!!!

Great Cover!! Bobby on the original left a LEGACY but Dwele definitely adds a nice flare and is more SOULFOUL than JOHN LEGEND! I believe Bobby was going for soul on this one!! KUDOS!! Dwele is one of the most underrated of the few real SOUL artists of today!!

Wherever he is, Bobby Caldwell should be proud that a young gun has managed to exacute his classic with such candour.Dwele G blew me away when I heard his rendition of the track, as a featured artist on the PPP production a few years back on S. Africa's finest, Metro FM. I can see that he's tweaked it here and there but it hasn't taken anything away from the track but brought it to a status of flawlesness. A true gem indeed!

This is a great compliment to the original by Bobby Caldwell. That's why I love sampling. Most people wouldn't know about this song if it wasn't for Common. Dwele did a good job on this, however, BOBBY SINGS THE FOOL OUT OF IT!

You're entitled to your opinion. I prefer Dwele's version because it has a smoother vibe to it. And I feel his version pays more attention to delivering the message of the song as opposed to simply trying to show vocal ability.

To all let me sum things up a little here. Most if not all music of today from r& b, rap/hiphop... whatever has sampled music from the 70's. Thats an era where freedom to explore & minds were so opened. Instruments were used & played. 70s cats had teachers from miles, herbie hancock, quincy jones, ROD TEMPERTON" that cat produce all of micheal jackson best hits in the 70's & early 80's plus The old school funk band "HEATWAVE" jazz artists with a solid foundation. Much respect ot the old school

I think the most important thing people need to remember is that Dwele wasn't trying to sing this better than Bobby, he was doing it to pay homage to his friend J Dilla- the greatest Hip-Hop and Neo-Soul producer of all time.

My second favorite track on "Sketches of a Man." It's sooo soulful!!! He really does justice to both songs, and he completely make this version his own. The chorus is HOT! I keep waiting for Common to start his verse!

Let's give credit where credit is due. Dwele did a great job tackling this song but I have to say personally I like Bobby's better. How can you trump something that comes form the heart of an artist. This is Bobby's song!! But as far as which is better. It's all preference. Dwele's is much more sensual with the light tones and all and is more soothing and will appeal to many today with the drums things because it's more urban but Bobby just gave it to you the only way he could, from the heart.

This is a cover from "common the light" . I love Dwele too and its a good cover.....really made it his own!
