i will never understand the hate towards this guy i saw a post saying who would you take 39 year old shaq or prime dwight and people were legit saying shaq. saying Dwight is soft. this dude for about 5 years was the most dominant big man in the league and is still decent still averaging a double double giving you more than 1.5 blocks pre game. stop the disrespect towards this dude he was a beast in his prime and is still a good center.
There's nothing stopping Dwight from playing like this right now. The league is just different and they don't use post players. Notice every time down the court the first thing he does is go straight to the post, in today's game, the first thing he does is set a high pick. The game is different.
hornets actually run a decent amount of plays through there bigs so I can see howard kinda bouncing back, hornets are my team and I pretty much watched all there games last yr so I know this and howard ain't sharing a court with millsap anymore which really helps, just sharing with marvin in the frontcourt now and he's just a spot up shooter and you got frank off the bench, his usage is high but they won't play much together.
Ricky X I'm expecting 20 and 12 and 2 blocks. I think Clifford is the right type of coach for Dwight. I also think Dwight is their best option on offense. If they run thru him they could be Top 10 offense and defense... Which is really really good. Not a hornets fan, but I like Dwight and Kemba.
Dwight pre injury one of the best centers ever. I remember how crazy it was watching him, he had a crazy motor, was a bully and started to learn more moves
Mackmizzle He has the resume of an HOFer. 8 All Star games, 3 DPOYs, multiple years being in MVP conversation, leading a team to the Finals by himself, and career stats of 17 points and 13 rebounds per game. If he can perform decently in Charlotte he's in the hall.
He doesn't have a post game as in he isn't skilled in the post. This is just brute force and basic footwork. Lebron doesn't have half the finishing skill of kyrie yet he was regularly shooting 80% at the rim in Miami vs kyrie who shoots a much lower %. Athleticism can makeup for skill
Injuries or not, he never developed his game. To this day he still can't face up and shoot anything other than a hook shot and can't handle the ball well. Have you ever seen him try to dribble the ball on a fastbreak? He still lacks tons of fundamentals...
Not true at all. Dwight has been facing up and handling the best very well this year. He's not a good dribbler on the fast break but no center is supposed to be. Just because some are doesn't mean the guys who aren't are lacking something,
Dwight's using the exact same moves today that he uses in this video. The difference is that he can't literally jump over his man to throw hookshots anymore and his first step out of the face-up isn't anywhere near as quick as it used to be. Those were his two moves. If he consistently used a third move (i.e. a short face-up jumper off the glass), that could have compensated for his loss of athleticism by making defenders hesitate long enough for him to drive by or drop in a counter move. Instead, what we got is a Dwight that's too stubborn to realize he's lost a step, using the same moves he used 7 years ago, desperately hoping to see shots that used to fall.
Give the ball to Dwight on the post and iso it, he will dominate when he has a lot of time in the clock and him being the number one focus in offense, he still has it, you just barely see it cuz the league is not the same anymore, post move aren't really a thing nowadays.
The thing I took away from this video is remembering how good jameer Nelson and joe Johnson on the hawks were. I remember these DH12 days too. He's a HOF'er
He's still solid though, averaged a double double last season but unfortunately disappeared in the playoffs. The game has changed so much over just a couple of years and his play style needs to change. He should focus on his shooting this season, develop a mid-range game and free-throw. His post-moves right now is good enough for this era of basketball.
Man, I wish Dwight never fizzled out the way he did and ended up close to Shaq's level. I remember watching his career grow step by step in my teens and thinking about how fascinating it was to finally not see a big man BUST (i.e. Kwame, Olawakandi, Okafor, Oden, Darko, Curry, etc.) living up to his Shaq comparisons early on in his career.
little did he know he would end up playing for Atlanta ..LOL.. hate where his career has went but hey if he shows up for the Wizards sky is the limit for this big guy
Its crazy how Dwight was really seen as the next SHAQ. He had all the tools to be just as dominant. He just has a reputation for being so soft man, its a shame he didn't live up to his potential. When he left Orlando, his career went downhill from there
I love physical post games like Dwight Howard he’s a stud and will be a hall of famer. I hate this 3 ball shooting shit. Not real basketball just a side show circus
The most crazy thing about this is that out of both starting 5s only Dwight and al horford are still in the league. The nba is such an inconsistent job i swear.
