This is the life of almost every person, excited at first and slowly starts to loose hope after each interview and finally settling with someone who wont even pay you a decent wage.
life of every person under capitalism*** we’re all exploited in this kind of system and we will continuously suffer while only very few continue to be rich or luckily manage to get out of poverty.
The setup was perfect with the second interviewer. Her office was so feminine, pink, soft lighting, flowers and butterflies. Then Dwight uses such aggressive descriptions.
It's like Funny this scene works when you just remember the quote and then you see the setting he uses to describe himself in whilst ignoring all social cues.
This scene works on so many levels, it shows Dwights insatiable nature, how hard working and passionate he is, but it also shows how a “Dwight” may not work in every setting. The levity that Micheal brings to work offsets Dwights rigid personality and allows him to perform at his most Dwightiest
This is also why he works so well with jim as well because jim's character develops into the next michael. Like have you seen "traveling salesmen" and "survivorman"?
It's so sad to see the enthusiasm drain from him as he confronts more and more rejection. I've been there, it sucks. Good luck to everyone out there looking for work 🙏
The writing in the pink office scene is so air tight. It's sort of like a boxer delivering a devastating combination. "Alpha male" is a diversionary feint, "Jackhammer" is a brutal shot to the body and "Merciless" is the knockout blow. "Insatiable" is the victory lap.
Job interviews nowadays won't accept this kind of thing. They will call you cocky or over confidence if you did this on how he approach the interviewer
if I could actually say what was in my heart during job interviews.. I would say similar things to what Dwight said, however unfortunately we live in a fake world where no one cares about who you truly are and job interviews are simply an act.
Dwight actually would easily pass the skills aspect of the jobs he wants, it's just the behavioral part that messes him up. It's why him working under Michael was so important, Michael himself being quite the character would tolerate Dwight's antics
I was able to relate with Dwight in this episode. Last year, my family bought a new house in the spring and we were going to move in during the summer because we’d be on summer break from school and college. I didn’t have a job yet and needed to get one asap so I can financially help my family once we move in. All I had to pay for was our phone bill, internet bill, and gas and electricity bill which would usually be less than $500. Anyways I spent like two months going for a job interview each week. I went to solo interviews and also group interviews. These mfers told me that they’d let me know either by the end of the day or week through a phone call. Every day I’d nervously sit down with my phone for hours expecting a call. But I’d get nothing. I wouldn’t even mind if they hired me or not. I just wanted an answer. It was also during the summer and I live in NYC so I kinda knew finding a job around this time would be very difficult. Anyways two weeks before we were gonna start moving in to our new house I got a call from a coffee and pastry shop asking if I could come for an interview. I replied back saying yes and then went in my room and cried for a few minutes because I was just happy I got a job somewhere. I passed the training and was hired there pretty quickly. It was an easy job for the most part. I just had to make coffees and lattes and bake muffins and other pastries. The job market is getting worse each day.
