Come on, i agree anything newer than 2005 is not country, but Dwight You is and was never accepted as country, and i grew up in Bakersfield and the central valley. He was trying to be different than Garth, Alan, Clint, Brooks and Dunn and Tim all who were dominating the time. The reason why Dwight is NOT sitting in a billion dollar house and owning Crowded Bars like all the rest of the 90s crew.
Hello Dear,❤️❤️❤️ How're you doing? Your comments caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you! It's nice meeting you here.
... I sang this song at karaoke years ago at a bar. A lot of people got on the dance floor and had a great time! An elderly couple approached me and handed me twenty dollars. The old man said, " You did real good up there son! We had a good time dancing... Thank you"! That was a really cool moment! Thanks Dwight!!
I love this guy. I went to his concert in the 90's and what a show! plus an hour encore. He sounded just like his records. No studio magic needed for this guy! Pure talent and such a nice entertainer.
He's also known for his compassion. He sent charter buses to hurricane stricken areas to bus out those without cars or means to travel.... and tractor trailer loads of hay to the northern and midwestern farmers during a severe drought. He is a class act all his own!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The year was 1993. Dwight had a magnificent mullet, and an even more magnificent set of ..............jeans. 🥰 The 90s were truly the last great decade of country music.
@@ianfrederixon2180 It probably really *is* true of the '90s though. I tried to turn on a station the other day and lasted half a song in, saying to myself, "What is this garbage!?" Lyrics now: Well, I wish I had some shoes on my two bare feet And it's gettin' kinda cold in these painted-on cut-off jeans I hate the way this bikini top chafes Do I really have to wear it all day? (Yeah, baby) Lyrics then: You don't know about lonely Or how long nights can be Till you've lived through the story That old man just told me And you don't know about sadness Till you've faced life alone You don't know about lonely Till it's chiseled in stone You don't know about lonely Till it's chiseled in stone
My husband is a musician. When he was practicing this song I told him it was most important to say Aahh, sookie. Can't sing this song without it. The way Dwight sings it is so sexy.
Definitely Josh. The stuff of country legends. Take it from this Nashville native, that opening riff captures a genre, an attitude, and an era like no other. Well said brother 👍
I use to give guitar lessons and in the early 90s it was pretty common that a student ask to learn this song. I always explained it as very " pretty womanish" . Great song and blast to play.
He has a style that ‘s his own, Dwight has a great mix of country, folk, r&b, tex…a style and performace that sets him apart from anyone. Love the man the music.
In the 80s listening to def Leppard, and Dwight Yoakam, hillbilly deluxe in my buddies ranger with one awesome sounding set up… Early rocking country no one recognizes, and now I listen to Jason Aldean that has taken over in mainstream and fulfilled those shoes… Dwight you rock
I loved him in Sling Blade too. But man was he a hateful thing. It was hard for me to wrap my head around that image when seeing Dwight "doing his thing" on my screen. Num num Num!
Country music just isn't the same anymore. It should just be called pop music. Dwight is the real deal among many other amazing 70s, 80s, and 90s artists.
Since his first album came out in 1986, Dwight has been one of my favorite entertainers. He's the complete package, singer, songwriter, musician, and a stage presence few can equal. But you gotta give credit where credit is due and without Pete Anderson, there wouldn't have been all the hit records. He produced all the albums, adding his unique guitar, and collaborating with Dwight on some of the best musical arrangements of that or any other era of country music. I remember when I first purchased Buenos Noches From a Lonely Room and couldn't wait to hear Streets of Bakersfield for the first time. My first reaction was "Accordion?! Who the hell puts an accordion in a Buck Owens song!?" Jesus, was I wrong. Pete was every bit the George Martin to Dwight's John, Paul, George and Ringo.
I was in college and remember the first videos...so much fun! #80sGreatestDecadeEver I remember wondering if they were country or 80’s rock - either way they were so much fun to sing and dance to. This song always got everyone out on the dance floor!
I remember this song from when I was a kid, and always liked it, but watching this video from 2022, I did NOT expect this guy to be as easy on the eyes as he is! This was a good way to spend 5 minutes of my life. The hips tho.
You really makes me higher and higher after reading your comment finish thank you so much for your support and love you show me I really appreciate it may god almighty bless you for me I love you 💖💖💖
@@dwightyoakam3511 this is not Dwight folks,it's a freaky scammer.Dwight NEVER comments to fans on social media, this creep cannot even speak English properly.
as a kid, my dad would always sing this song while picking his guitar, I always thought it was his original. the first time I heard it on the radio I was so confused. great song!!
Dwight has a VERY Unique and FANTASTIC voice EVER as well as guitar playing! ABSOLUTELY love his voice and own his albums and CD 's! He's also an AWESOME Actor! Thank you Dwight for entertaining us with your blessed talents from GOD!🤗🕊

I’ve always loved country music, but when you came out, I thought you were awesome, and still are!! I think you were one of the first men in country music to wear the skinny jeans. Good look for you! Sexy too!! I love your music!! Still listening in 2024!!
I'm here listening and loving it. Yeehaw dam it. Hell I just went out and bought a new pair of boots. I now have six pairs. I love this shit. Correction I live this shit. Dwight Yoakam is the man
Wow, he REALLY is all that. I see he personally replies to comments, that is amazing. True talent, good looking, and heart. Dwight, you are a true legend. 💯 ♥️
I am a few years older than Dwight and I've been listening in forever I lost touch I couldn't find anything of him until RU-vid thank you you too and now I think I have every song I could find of him on my phone I never ever get tired of hearing and him and looking at him I'm so glad he's happily married and as a little boy he's going to be a great father as well as if he is a singer in a writer in an actor and the way he wears his clothes I can't help it I'm sorry I'm old flight I love you❤
55 yrs old Detroit rocker here. Talent aside, it wouldn't matter if he didn't do a damn thing except look like he did. Lol. You Ladies were helpless! One of the best.
Dwight music is great and hem tight blue jeans & Good looks makes him even better , just beautiful love him & his music. thanks for posting this . God bless you Dwight 2-15-20
The pants is what got my attention and then he was twirling n singing and playing guitar all at the same and having so much fun with the audience... and the he said Sukie.
I'm a true city girl who fell in love with a true as true cowboy, and he introduced me to true country music! And this song was one of them! I honestly think it's timeless and a lot of fun!
Love every song he has done. I have alot of respect for this man stayed out of the tabloids and Hollywood all his career. Clean holsom family America family man.
My very first full time job was as a DJ at a country music station in the early 90's. I went there hating country music, but left there loving Dwight Yoakam. Great music, period.
My favorite song by DY. His "Aww, Sukee" is perfect - just the way the novelist wanted it to sound. My mother preferred him and his band during the 90s when she was in her 80s.
When my daddy passed away I went to his home to clear everything out and clean before the new owners took posession. I found alot of old books about World War 1, World War 2 and Vietnam War as well amongst the books, all his vinyl records and vintage news clippings etc... I found a Dwayne Yokam CD. I thought it was odd to see that as one in his collection. I immediately listened to it and have not stopped listening since! Such an exquisite voice. So unique from any other. Watched him in videos later and was so impressed with his style I now own every everything Dwight Yokam. Thank you daddy for leaving me such a treasure to find.
Hi Nicole, I`m so sorry about your Daddy, mine just left for home the other day, we are enduring while redefining pain on a level we never knew existed until it reveals itself that way and after knowing and loving a man for 64 years Mama and I don`t have the first clue what to do except pray, I`m sitting here now jamming on the brakes of time obviously an exercise in futility, because Daddy`s birthday is 10/25 which is the same day as mine and I`m afraid of what it could to me? I humbly apologize Nicki I just meant to lay down a few lines not cry and whine, however in closing I just wanted to share with you that God placed the CD there for you to find and I`m sure that your beloved Daddy didn't mind. God Bless You and your family Be Well EAP
I met his niece when she performed at my facility. She's also incredibly talented. She doesn't dance much lol but her voice is very reminisce of patsy cline meets a young Leann rimes, very soulful yet very true to country.
On this day in 1993 {December 26th} Dwight Yoakam's "Fast As You"* peaked at #2 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, for the week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "Wild One" by Faith Hill... "Fast As You" reached #5 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart... Between 1986 and 2005 the Pikeville, Kentucky native had forty-one records on the Hot Country Singles chart, fourteen made the Top 10 with two reaching #1, "Streets of Bakersville" {with Buck Owens} for one week in October of 1988 and "I Sang Dixie" for one week in February of 1989... Two of his forty-one charted records were duets; the above "Streets of Bakersville with Buck Owens and "Sent A Message To My Heart" with Patty Loveless {#47 in 1992}... Dwight David Yoakam celebrated his 64th birthday two months ago on October 23rd, 2020... * "Fast As You" was Dwight Yoakum's third of three of his records to peak at #2 on the Hot Country Singles chart, his other two #2 records were "Ain't That Lonely Yet" in May of 1993 and "A Thousand Miles From Nowhere" in September of 1993... "I Want To Be Loved Like That" by Shenandoah #10. "Somebody New" by Billy Ray Cyrus
I never paid much attention to Dwight Yoakam, and then I saw him in a documentary called "Gram Parsons: Fallen Angel.". In it, and I'll get this as close as possible but it's been a long time since I've seen it, he says, "Everything I've ever done has been a tribute to Gram Parsons" or words very similar to that. Since then, I discovered I really like his catalog. It's kind of funny how being a Beatles fan led me to the Rolling Stones, who led me to Gram Parsons, who led me to Dwight Yoakam.
We saw him twice in concert...great singer songwriter composer....ooh and has he got the moves...God bless you your beautiful wife and baby Dalton...we love you all❤
Hello Dear. How're you doing? Your comments caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you. Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you! It's nice meeting you here.
I remember hearing him on CMT and stop dead in my tracks. Just to sit down and listen to his music. I always wondered what it would be and sound like. If Dwight and Elvis did a show together. Would all the women be at there Concert??;)
I bought this Cassette and took it to Walter, He was the other Guitar Player in our Band called "Frontstreet," he ran to get his Guitar and we just jumped right on it. Club Audiences love the Beat, Dwight can Rock for a Country boy. Key of E just suits the Guitar fine. It's a work out for Bass.
