Nastia is a natural born winner. She obviously deserved to win the trophy, but she didn't because the process that determines the winner is corrupt. Much like the way they determined the winner on the old Paul Whitman talent show, back in the early '50's. In those days whoever was fortunate enough to have lots of friends and relatives in the audience, benefited from their clapping, yelling and cheering at the end of the their performance. Not surprisingly, this would usually move the applause meter to the extreme right into the red zone and at that point everyone knew who the winner was. Unfortunately, the point system that DWTS uses which includes a significant percentage of viewers deciding who the winner is, is ultimately based on popularity not merit! This kind of thing happens all the time on this show which is why I don't watch DWTS anymore! This kind of dancing is an art form. What the heck do people know about the finer and subtle aspects of this intricate art form?????
Perhaps Derek would have performed it better. Choreography has nothing to do with the degree of personal expression a performer puts into the choreography. Two dancers can do the same choreography differently. Sasha wasn't feeling it.
Sasha has had 2 Olympic champions, legends of gymnastics no less and hasn't won with either. He's doing the same choreography. Hopefully, he will improve and grow in his passion for dance choreography when he ties the knot with Emma. Because it just isn't there. He's not feeling it. Not inspired.
