The 2006 Pistons were also more of a zone-oriented defensive team under coach Saunders whereas they were a man to man defense under Larry Brown. Brown was strongly against using zones but Saunders favored zone defenses. This change in defensive schemes led to Wade shooting over 60% in the 2006 ECF against the Pistons, the only time Wade shot over 60% in a series. He still lit up the 2005 Pistons man to man defense, but shot a not as crazy 48% in the 2005 ECF before his rib injury in Game 5. But granted, a healthy Wade would have likely beaten the 2005 Pistons as well even with their better defensive scheme under Brown.

Notice how Pat Riley didn’t take Wade out until the first quarter? Erik Spoelstra(Miami’s current coach) would’ve taken him out with 5 minutes remaining in the quarter. Man I hate that guy.
