Every marriage is different. And 50/50 isn't just talking about money. Personally, as a married man I aspire to one day be the primary earner for my family. But I would never judge another man who would rather his wife work. It's not easy becoming the sole provider. I've been married for 12 years and I'm still not there yet. I'm getting closer though. I would rather my wife focus on other things, and not be burdened with having to work a full-time job. I don't believe that both spouses have to work full time jobs in the traditional sense, like 9 to 5, Mon - Fri. Maybe 1 spouse operates a small business, while the other works the traditional job to secure the health benefits. But like I said, every marriage is different. Do what works for you.

If you listened, the root of the problem were his words. He put her in that position to contribute 50%. When he said, "My house." She said to herself those words will never be spoken again. His mindset was Mine instead of saying Ours and meaning that. All because he purchased the home with his own money. It didn't have to be that way. It works for their household fine. Majority middle class households there is always a primary provider who pays more than the other.

@Sammy Gulley I think both men and women are going wrong these days when it comes to money. Both should just be generous, but everybody is so selfish that they don't trust the people they choose. What's the point of choosing a mate if you don't go all in? Most women that earn good money don't mind using it on the home. I lived in my exes house and paid 60/40, me 40% but somehow we always had conversations about women using his resources. I never once used him, even paid for half of vacations and paid my portion of the bills from my savings account when I was out of work for a few months. In three years, he never once asked me if I needed money or help with anything. The problem is that when women work for survival and not because it's a cherry on top for the household, they fall into their masculine energy. Men don't like that. As the saying goes, you have to pay the cost to be the boss. But if you want a business partner, then 50/50, 60/40 will work fine, but there is no clear leadership established. Some men don't care about women's careers or supporting their careers but want the money from said career. I found that odd. Men are better off if they just become successful and bring a woman on after if they choose. That way he can manage the house well within his budget and what his wife makes doesn't even matter, it's extra.

50/50 dont really mean everything is split right down the middle unless you really taking to the literal definition of it. I think that it's fair and healthy financial practice for both parties, and that we both can bring to enjoy and support the household and make it easy on both side instead of one doing it all. Now some of traditional mindset female might think "oh, its the guy's responsibility to pay for everything, and it the guy's responsibility to pay all the bills, and I don't ever have to look at the tab" is giving off a sense of weak minded sense of entitlement, like you feel you're entitled to everything.

So basically yes, he is a 50/50 kind of dude. And they live above their means because Gabrielle said they do it because bills need to get paid- we gotta grind. So when he says she will add her money to get more from a situation- that just shows they live beyond their means- he should be able to cover whatever it is in their household.
