We all have been evolving and scaling organizations, and as developers, we have been thrown on the “platform engineering” bus. From starter kits that turn applications quickly into spaghetti code to navigating the complex maze of finding best practices to follow, modern backend development teams are on the quest for “the platform” to implement. With the front end accelerating the path to market and the infrastructure putting a break to it, API development is at the core of any modern application. But this doesn’t come for free, as teams are struggling to coordinate distributed development and find a way to simplify the journey from ideation to production. In this talk, we are going to challenge the status quo and introduce a new way to build, run and operate modern backend platforms.
Starting from bootstrapping a solution, we are going to show a practical example of how to approach the different steps involved in delivering APIs for production and how to integrate with these from a frontend application frictionlessly. No magic, but instructions are included!
