Want to grab the DYE MXR? You can do that right here: bit.ly/4gqzWcP
The DYE MXR debuted at the NXL Windy City Major 2024, and it absolutely turned some heads. With DYE's massive legacy going from the DM4 TWENTY years ago, all the way to the brand new MXR, we managed to get our hands on one to see what the hype is about. And let Sam tell you, the hype is real.
The MXR improves upon features that you would normally find on the DSR+ and M3+, takes the best of both of those markers and created this amalgamation of paintball perfection.
Everything changed. With the M3+ being replaced by the MXR, the new kid on the block boasts some features that were improved. The grips, SLAP2 ASA, and trigger were amongst those. The new grips are much easier to take off of the MXR compared to the M3+. Simply peel them off and you're done! The SLAPS2 ASA has the Hyper 6IM regulator built into it, and simply airs up your MXR with ease. All you do is thread your air source into the SLAPS2, then...well slap the ASA cap to engage the air. The new trigger is a vast improvement from the M3+, and is exceptionally smooth and easy to pull. There's also a second trigger shape in the box if you want to swap between the two.
The MXR includes the DYE UL-I barrel system, and is currently the only high end marker to include three inserts for better bore matching. Included will be a matching barrel back, barrel tip, and the .688, .684, and .680 inserts. The Dye UL-I barrel system is also PWR insert compatible.
No more rechargeable batteries, which can be viewed as a downgrade, but the MXR has very low power draw. Where most markers draw about 6v of power from their respective batteries, the MXR uses only 3v from 2 AA batteries. The amount of cycles you can get before changing batteries is exceptional.
The new Arc X bolt system takes the shot signature and quality that players love from the DSR, and vastly improves the overall efficiency. The MXR boasts incredible efficiency, a super smooth and quiet shot, and also handles paint exceptionally well. This new core is the epitome of everything a player wants in their high end marker.
Another new feature is the aluminum eye pipe! No more plastic eye pipes that get cracked, can shatter, or be dry fired out of the breach when there's no barrel on the marker. The MXR uses an aluminum eye pipe that snaps into place magnetically. So when you're done with maintenance on your MXR, you don't need to put a barrel on to keep the eye pipe in place. This new style of eye pipe also uses an o-ring as the ball detent, and can be swapped out for smaller or tougher o-rings depending on your paint.
The MXR is an impressive piece of paintball technology, and it sets the bar for what is achievable in the high-end paintball gun market. Dye has truly outdone themselves with this release, and it's quite easy to see why. Creating a reliable platform that doesn't compromise on the super soft shot of the DSR+ and gives incredible air efficiency makes this one of, if not, the best paintball guns to come out in the past five years.
