This is a technique I've only ever seen done with fabric but I wanted to try it with yarn. So I cut off the bottom of a 2 litre plastic bottle and loaded in the yarn, acid dyes and ice, using the dye over ice method. And of course, there was an extra skein of yarn underneath the suspended bottle so not to waste any dye that dripped out of the bottle. After the ice melted, I steam set the yarn in bottle and added a bit more dye to the extra skein in a low immersion set up.

Dye: Black acid dye from DT Craft and Design, Hyacinth and Spearmint Breeze acid dyes from Dharma Trading.
