This was a kit guitar I was assembling for someone else so I don’t know a whole lot about it. I’m pretty sure it was a thin veneer. It had binding already so I’m trying to remember from looking in the pickup cavities. I somehow managed to not sand through it though! Yes the dyes are water based.
@@dannylewisguitars TYVM for the info. I've got a LP w/an Explorer headstock China kit that I'm currently working on, and it has a veneer. I've seen and been told water based dyes aren't ideal, but the results you show on this video are excellent. I don't think I'm as worried now as I was 2 days ago.
