Oh, that is such a cool new technique! I doubt I'll ever need to dye 800 g of yarn at one, but it could be fun to try in a smaller pan with different colors in each layer. My brain is whirring with ideas! Thank you for sharing this!
I opened this one as soon as I saw the colors you chose -- I LOVE IT! Would make a gorgeous project with full skeins in each color. I may need to try this! As fro the process? I just love this idea. It's great! interesting and fantastic experiment! I'm so glad it worked out in spectacular fashion!
I think I lucked out a bit with the dye colors, too. I could have easily picked colors that just didn't move through the yarn well enough. I love how this turned out!
Absolutely awesome way to dye more skeins at once. Really enjoying my first time getting to participate in this. The colors are fabulous so far can't wait to see what is next. Absolutely adored the extra. Now the hard part is finding a pattern to knit with these lovely skeins. Thanks so much 🙏 💓
Fascinating technique. And gorgeous yarn. I waited to open my Night 2 packet until all the skeins were on display, and the I couldn't decide if I'd rather have one of the more consistent ones, or one with light patches and/or navy creep. So I sort of got both my wishes when my miniskein had slight tonal variations throughout! And the little penguin stitch marker is super cute. Can't wait for tomorrow night...
When I do this, and you started my odd obsession with placing powders, I do one side, then flip. However, your colors go well together and are glorious when mixed. So pretty.
What if on the first side, you dusted the color over yarn that's on plastic wrap/counter, then when you flip it, put it in the pan? Would you maybe have a more consistent colorway? In any case, beautiful work as always!
I think that I would just start adding a bit of color to the pan before adding yarn and water - so I don't have to flip. The colors went through so well.
I don't think I've ended up with crunchy dye from acid dyes yet... but I was nervous about how this would turn out. I always have enough yarn for an extra night just in case I really ruin it.
