We have lost one of the most important guitarist in history. He was a genius either playing, improvising, arranging or composing. He was also able to blend jazz and classical music for guitar in such a magical way that has been and will be a reference for all musicians. He could play so deep and emotively in "Alba Nera" and this "Valse in skai" songs for example, or with such a virtuosity in "Libra Sonatina"..... he was able to take and beautifully put together the guitar inspiration of Agustin Barrios, Antonio Lauro, Villa-Lobos, Leo Brouwer, Baden Powell.... the playing elegance of Andrés Segovia plus the spirit of so many jazz artists.... His life, work and legacy was and will always be an absolutely special and unique one. God bless you, Roland Dyens.
This Master now is Playing in the heaven, I feel very sad for him, their genius and style will be forever on every piece performed for every guitarist around the world. Thanks Roland thanks, Maybe we can play together in the next life.
Thought this to be amongst the very best of his compositions and performances too. Just my enthusiastic opinion & joy to hear this so widely performed the world over, for the first time played by the Master himself.
Ronald Dyens said in interview that he wrote Tango "En Skai" after cocktail party. And title "En Skai" related with french artificial leather company "En skai".
