This is just my thoughts but dying traps is not to important in my opinion. Some say it helps with scent control. But it also makes them a darker color. Which would make sense if you wasn't going to cover them up. I feel it may help with getting any old smells off. However I clean them first. So I guess it really boils down to personal preference. I have took new traps and just got the oil off and waxed them and caught coyotes just the same. I think waxing is much more important. Waxing traps will seal them up from the weather, make them faster and also lock out any scents. The way I see it, anything I can do to possibly increase my chances is a good thing 😆 and that's also the way my elders always done it Thank brother
