I don't think Techland will be able to restore this game, no matter how hard they try, most of it is the story, I'm almost positive you can't change the entire story of a game after it's been released. There is also the atmosphere and art design, even though the graphics are technically better now, 2018 DL2 still looked much better. It's really a shame that Techland ruined this game.

They changed a lot of Blood Ties. So, if they can do it to a DLC story, why not the main?

I wouldn't go as far as call it great, it was alright, but the story didn't deliver and it sucked to see, though I'm not shitting on the game or anything, it's just disappointing, I was a die hard fan and played the first for so long and actually pre ordered this when it was available, though they showed a better story than they actually have unfortunately.

@@Mina-uc7lg Oh it's undoubtedly rushed, they deleted everything they had because of false accusations which was one of its biggest reasons it was "ruined", which what they deleted was about probably 1-2 years of work or possibly more

@@lordwilfred4429 bit late to the pary, but they didnt delete much. Allegations were mid 2020, and alpha footage from 2019/2020 shows the game just wasnt finished at all. They changed their minds abt what they were going for late 2018 i assume and started from scratch. They spent most of 2019 working on the gameplay demo, so the game looked finished to the public. We know this cus 1. combat wasnt even fully implemented back then, as a lot of the combat sequences (and some parkour ones) were simply prebuilt animations that were played for the sake of making the gameplay look smooth and finished and 2. the game didnt come out for another 3 years despite looking to be really late into development (though this couldve been due to the story needing to be rewritten who knows). one of the level designers posted gameplay which used the hud and animations from the 2019 gameplay demo, It was of aiden climbing a radio tower, ok, nothing special. But the gameplay featured the old villedor (or atleast an early version of it) we know today in the background. so i think everything from 2018 was just a proof of concept. avelone leaving only affected the story, which wasnt fully decided on either as chris had written many storyline drafts. in summary 2018: scrapped completely at some point before q1 2019 2019: a very early version of the game we know today, very bare bones aside from the gameplay demo segments and a bit of the central loop. only thematic differences really to the game we have now is that they were still really sticking to the modern dark ages theme and the gritty aesthetic. 2020: who knows. story rewrite happened somewhere around q2 i assume and old villedor DID 100% exist back then as its seen in alpha gameplay using 2019 animations and the og hoodednightrunner outfit 2021: game rebranded to "stay human" and reannounced to the public. it was probably in the mid to late beta phase for a lot of this year but it was fully playable in the open world

@@nexusisntavailable You wrote an essay for me, I feel honored lol, but yeah I do agree with you, though I think you may have been a little confused on how I meant it, yes the map was fairly made and was concept art and hasn't and wouldn't have changed much since 2018,19,20. Though my big thing was that they rushed and "ruined" the story, back when Chris Avelone was with them, he was their Narrative Director, and he helped make at least 5 story demo arcs and for each 100 quests under each demo arc, when he had gotten accused and fired, they didn't delete the world in any way other than Elysium since they couldn't find a way to add it in when the new guy made the story (Who I somewhat absolutely despise), what they did do though was get rid of all of his story ideas which were fatal, because of the fact that the map was made with his ideas in mind and to get rid of the lead narrative director during production is a very risky thing, as it can lead to what happened with Dying Light 2 unfortunately. This being a massive thing, caused production to slow down on the game and somewhat reset, since they decided to hire a man who has only ever made crime dramas for shows and has never made a game story, which isn't much different from tv but different enough, which is why all the characters bicker and whine when things don't go their way, and they also kind of did this to Aiden too. In all, the story was what suffered greatly and if you look into the story at all, you'll be able to find little holes that make no sense, and it does show that it was rushed, you can even see this with the dlc also, most of the story would have been okay to alright, if they didn't include that first part talking about skull face pretty much bombing the city with deadly chemicals to normal folk, but makes meth head super buff, the bombing part just connects to the end of the first story, nothing new there, just a repeat to entice the character to actually go there. In summary, the game just suffers from poor and lack of thought through writing, and near the end, was indeed rushed with the story and some game mechanics (though also with what I was talking about before, was when the blockade to the central loop, commander Lucas was killed not too long after you arrive, certainly not months, but the dialogue you have with Hakon and I forget the name of the new Commander, conflicts with what the survivors say about the blockade, some say they haven't seen their kids in months because of the blockade, which contradicts them talking about it being only a few weeks before.)

So what if it's horrible on release? I played the first Dying Light on release and it was fine, it's a singleplayer game not a multiplayer one. There's only so much that can go wrong that's actually game breaking.

@@mr.yalovoy7195 I get that and I get going in a different direction but u have to admit the product that was given to us was not what was advertised. The zombies we’re expected to b like I am legend with these large groups inside during the day and while there are some spots like that they aren’t what was presented in trailer. The zombies are also way more frightening then what we received retail version. I am not a hater of this game bc gameplay wise they killed it 100% love the parkour and for the most part I love the combat. But from a visual standpoint and “your choices matter” point fell flat in my opinion. False advertising might not b the right phrase but they definitely didn’t live up to what they promised.
