well Series X runs at a slightly higher resolution than PS5 curiously. but they didn't bother giving One X visual improvements over PS4 Pro.

there is barely any room for differences between PS5/XSX for what we've seen so far this gen. but for sure there was room for improvement for the others specially a 60fps mode for series S. It is basically giving a last generation experience here.

Even last generation of consoles aren't being pushed or properly optimized Like the Xbox One X....Red Dead Redemption 2 looks way better then this game and run at higher resolutions.

It is kind of ironic that their name is Techland given the lack of technical performance

It hasn't used any of the console particularly well except the base machines. It's pretty obvious they only focused on making it run well on the base consoles. One X and ps4 Pro are both the same despite the one X being more powerful. And also the series S version I'm playing on is pretty meh. I know they could get more out of that console and add in a 60fps mode with a lower resolution and settings. I bet things will improve down the line though as techland are pretty good at supporting the game.

Loading on consoles was never slow because of Hdd or Sdd. I use a HDD on PC and load much faster than any console, the slower loading is due to how the game engines are programmed, how the console operating system is programmed, and how the ram and vram memory pools are shared, how the data buses work, and the speed of the CPU.

It's also good to know that the developers released a trailer exclusively showing off last generation footage of the game whereas cyberpunk 2077 seem to have used the best looking version.

The problem was CDPR’s heads that wanted this out before it was really done and somehow thought they could swing it, despite the dev team’s disagreement on readiness.

@Transistor Jump Next gen is capable of Dynamic 4k/60fps, and even 120fps at different resolutions, on certain titles. This game was announced before next gen consoles were launched, so most of the development time was spent for last gen consoles, and it still looks like sh*t. Truly, horribly optimised on every single platform. This kind of quality, or lack thereof, is unacceptable in 2022. They deserve some sort of flak for this. They're not worse than Cyberpunk, but they're on the same level, in terms of bugs and overall performance.

The series S here is using the higher graphical options in this game as the series X and ps5. The one X is using the medium preset so in this game anyway the S wins.

The Series S has higher graphical detail and of course the super fast load times that both PS5 and Xbox Series X have.

The fact that I never hear my console(Ps5)is kinda bad IMO for a console. The console hasn’t been used to it’s absolute limit the entire time it’s existed. At least in my eyes.

Either way as long as you enjoy the game it's fine, fun is all that matters in the end.

​@@KillerKollar Yeah but ya gotta be fair with these ancient systems trying to run a game this big and complex. These are old systems and Techland isn't R* where they can spend close to a decade with around 2,000 devs from nine different studios on a single game. Cyberpunk is a different story. That game was just too big, and people have said they kinda prioritized PC too much when making the game, and it shows from what I can tell. As far as resolution goes for DL2 though, dynamic resolution would've likely worked but Techland chose a different approach so we'll just have to deal with it. If the picture is pretty but the game runs like crap, you're probably better off watching a slideshow or reading a picture book. So yeah, fun is what matters. It's a video game and that's what they are made for.

It runs ok, only complaints are pop in and charters get grey skin. sometimes audio cuts out, and the enemies ai doesn’t load sometimes so they will stand there well you hit them. Well they aren’t constantly they do happen very very often within my 3-4 hours of play. if you put on ice pack on top of your ps4 it helps quite a bit🤣, but it’s a pretty fun game still imo, but def needs a bit more work.

Especially on the Series S, I think they just got lazy on that version.

Series s is being heavily under used. As are both other machines. In most games where its 900p or around there on base xbox one you get the same at 1440p or close to that on series S. Also one X version is a joke. Rdr2 has the same rendering resolution as this game on base xbox and then the one X version pushes all the way up to native 4k!!!. I hope they improve all console versions.

I've basically given up on getting a PS5 or Xbox X at this point. Now is a good time to catch up on my backlog, I suppose.

The GPU in the Xbox One X is equivalent to a RX 580, the Series S in rasterization performance is equivalent to a GTX 1650 Super, PS5 a RTX 2060 Super and Series X a RTX 2070. With a better CPU like a Ryzen 7 1800x the games on the Xbox One X would have run at 1440p upscaled to 4K at 60fps with graphics settings equivalent to low and medium quality textures. The GPU in the Xbox One X was a entry level Polaris GPU paired with a CPU weaker than a second generation Intel Core I5 CPU.

Yeah, I have a 3080 and i HAVE to use DLSS to get more than 60fps at 4k, even at the lowest preset.

One X will look better sitting still. But a series s will hold frame rates much more consistently and the loading times will be about 5x faster.

Sensible statement... if we were not in the middle of a pandemic that caused such a drastic ship shortage that getting a new-gen console or a high-end PC graphics card is absolutely impossible. Until this shortage ends, developers making concessions for previous-gen owners is a welcome attitude.

These new consoles are roughly equal to 2070 super and you get like 40 fps at 1440p with that card so it all make sense why they locked it to 1080p 60 fps.

Basically they focused on last gen and still ended up with a low frame rate graphical monstrosity. Seems like misplaced development focus.

Maybe we might get an update with said optimization but i highly doubt. Something like a PS5 mode with 1440P res/60FPS and some form of ray tracing like metro has done.

Dude, I'm still on PS4 Slim, I would love to have a PS4 Pro so I can play games like Genshin Impact and Okami HD and in native 4K or games like New Super Lucky Tales and Shadow of the Colossus at 60fps. Even Fortnite has much better graphics ( like draw-distance, shadow quality and texture quality ) on PS4 Pro compared to PS4 Slim.

Every game takes time to get patched, but at least on pc you can get much better options for self optimization right out of the gate.

I mean the last gen titles run under 1080p in 2022. That is awful

@@toptiertech7291 You really can't expect much more out of the last gen. You're looking at PS4's 1.84 Tflops and One S's 1.3 versus PS5's 10.3 and Series X's 12 Tflops. Not to mention the anemic Jaguar cpu cores. This could've easily been another Cyberpunk 2077. But, I think Techland did a good job on last gen. The real complaint should be 1080/60 in performance mode on current gen.

The base PS4 ran Uncharted at 1080/60 without a hiccup. Call of duty did it no problem on those consoles in October. 900p and still going below 60fps is unacceptable in 2022

@@toptiertech7291 I haven't played DL2. Only the first one. That said, all games aren't created equal. Some are much more demanding on the hardware. Also, most games target 30fps on PS4. This is mainly because of the cpu consisting of 8 Jaguar cores clocked at 1.6ghz. The AMD Jaguar architecture was designed for low end mobile devices. Sony and MS cheaped out on their cpus. You also have to factor in that games and their respective engines are designed around/for increasingly powerful hardware. You brought up the recent COD. Most fps games do aim for 60fps (which on base PS4/XB1 dips below 60fps are almost always present). However, these specific FPS titles usually have much less granular detail, less animation, simpler textures, and overall are far less taxing. I get that you want a certain standard. Heck, when I bought my PS4 back in early 2014 I didn't know much about hardware at the time. I just thought this then new console could do everything a powerful PC could do. I got frustrated mid gen and bought a PC when games like Uncharted 4, God of War, and many more only targeted 30fps. If you think DL2 is bad on PS4 just take a look at the recommended PC requirements. You will see how far the PS4 punches above it's weight. No PC with a PS4's specs could run DL2. I also use PC as a metric because last and current gen consoles are X86 64-bit machines which utilize PC architecture. Gone are the days of the PS2's emotion engine and the PS3's cell processor. Modern consoles are much more boring from a tech perspective. But, it does make them infinitely easier to make games for. My advice to you is if you want all games to play at a locked 60fps at a 1080p minimum is to go for a current gen console or a PC that will meet your preferred specs. The messed up market doesn't make this a cheap or easy proposition. But, it can be done. Especially if your aim is a PC and you don't mind buying prebuilt, getting a used graphics card (however AMD's 6600 and 6600XT's new are closest to normal in price and perform great at 1080p), or waiting for the market to stabilize. I know this is a long post. I'm not trying to talk down to you either. You just need to know that the PS4 is old now. That it's only going to have a harder time running the latest games at your preferred quality. It sucks seeing your tech investments become obsolete. Especially if you paid $400 for a PS4 around launch like I did. I had to come to terms with it myself. DL2 is very demanding on every platform. I was not happy at all to see it running at 1080/60 on PS5 either. Better preforming hardware is always around the corner. And, even a shiny new RTX 3090 will eventually have an expiration date. I know my current PC or PS5 will one day become obsolete. ...Best of luck to you man.

Even if the game didn't implement HDR. Consoles would still convert the SDR picture to an HDR one. I know with Windows 11 the moment the gane startup. Windows Auto HDR which is based of Series X kicks in.

Its kind of hard to do with the vram difference if 3gb vram is not enough. Example a 780ti has 3gb while ps4 has 8gb. A gtx 1060 is close to 780ti and has 6gb vram. Also a rx480 (8gb) Then when it comes to CPU you need 8 core CPU something Intel didn't launch until 2018 especially important with DRM pc has to deal with. Then hopefully you can copy console settings exactly a lot of games tend to have certain graphic settings lower on console than the lowest possible on PC. Then there is dynamic resolution(this game has FSR though so that will be possible here)

the game isnt optimized very well i tried to run it at 1440p with rt on my 6900xt and I was getting 30fps now I switched to rt off same res and ultra settings and I'm getting 90 fps so I'm not surprised that the current gen consoles did get the presets they got

Series S really isn't a powerful machine AT ALL. what do you think is going to happen when truly new gen games come out? 🤔 this is built for 8 year old systems and series S still taking huge hits. Honestly the series S is really only good for higher framerate multiplayer games in low resolution. So basically it can still be a console for competitive gaming at low res but anything else is going to take huge hits. And even then there will be a bunch of multiplayer games that it won't run at 120fps when new gen only games come out. But at least for last gen competitive games it's doing allright if your ok with lower resolution. But I'd say that's really all it's good for.

Far cry 6 on ps5 at least has a pretty bad stuttering problem unless they have fixed it in the last 2 months

AC Valhalla and watchdogs launched with bugs and bad performance and only got better after a couple of patches.

Impossible thanks to the jaguar cpu. Besides a handful of games the last gen consoles were 30fps thanks to the cpu not being very good for above 30fps. Its a better idea to crank up resolution and settings if possible on one x.
