People need to remember that this band has gone from playing only one off shows and week long tours, to zero shows in the pandemic, and now has toured relentlessly for the past maybe 5 months. Give her time to heal and update her technique for these longer runs, they are still a very fresh band. As a vocalist that uses false chord I've been in this exact position and I can feel the pain that she's in. Props to her for getting on that stage every night and giving it all she has left, Emma is a fucking G.
Stuff like that is exactly why I've never committed to being in a band. I can scream ok but not for more than a song or 4. And damn sure not every night for a month lol
@@timmykephart Its such a impossible expectation too. People want a vocalist to nail it live for a 20 min set while jumping around on the stage, talk to fans and friends after shows, and then repeat that every day for weeks and weeks while taking two showers a week and eating nothing but uncrustables.
@@HourEleven yeah thing is tho loads of people are capable mate... I can do it, my voice got fucked a lot too but i pretty much could find it for any show. Shes being let off bc feminist shit. If she was male she'd have been fired... Haha
Yes they are ! That’s what I keep telling folks . They are getting a huge push on Liquid Metal SiriusXM and they are doing some big tours and festivals. They are gonna be huge !
Really hope she figures out how to scream live long term. Love her on the albums, left a lot to be desired live for sure. She’s not the first person to have this issue. Caleb from Beartooth was awful when he first started out in AA as well
She's cringe too, they just let women be shit at stuff because feminism gone too far esp in hc. Women just get a free pass for being not very talented. She wants to be edgy as fuck but she just isn't good and she is cringey, even in her talking and telling the crowd to mosh. It must be pretty mad to be female and to just live your life making a fool out of yourself and having people still give you the time of day and ass lucking you when if you were male everyone would think you were a loser or laugh at you. Also the band are musically so much better than this. It's a real shame. They can really play and because of politics they're stuck with that shit for a vocalist. B Guitarists backing vocals are literally great too. Absolutely professional in every way apart from HER. Also her bits of talking the lyrics in that metalcore way sound terrible. Her accent is shit and she sounds so horribly white and square. If she was male they'd have sacked her for a new vocalist by now.
I see comments knocking her vocals but not everyone can be Angela Gossow. I think Emma is pretty badass. I love her presence on the stage. I look forward to what that band can do.
Maybe I've been in a hole, but I recently discovered this bands existence and have been listening to Fragments of a bitter memory non stop for the last couple of days... EXPLOSIVE ALBUM! Digs!
When I heard them live at a tdwp concert in KC last week I think she killed it. Glad they opened for the tdwp as I really enjoy them and had never heard of them before hand. Even if her screaming is a bit off just the energy they brought was awesome. Was my third concert ever. They remind me of the group who made the music for cod zombies with Elena Siegman.
Standard voice break for anyone who's been on tour long term so you're just using whatever you can to get through it. This set looks like it's off the back of a big leg of shows. Anyone who plays in a hardcore/metal band will of had the same problem as a new(ish) band. It also takes time to mature. We're also critiquing a female vocalist. 20x harder imo for any female to scream in a metal band. Personally see no real problem, she kills it on record and has a proven record she can back it up live.
Nah. She sounded exactly like this on the 2nd date of the Acacia Strain tour. I was there on the first Richmond date and it was hard to listen to. Love her voice on the album, but it was a huge bummer when I saw them live.
Went to check this band out. First time listener here. Went to skip through, and ended up on the breakdown for coward... Heard Emma's voice and saw her rockin out, heard them 2000s style guitars and drum beats... Instant fan! Downloading every song then looking up show locations. Wow. Just woke bro. This is raw, real music. The band seems real, the crowd is feeling what they're putting out. I'm a legit fan, I don't just like it. I'm a fan
I actually didn't like her vox at first but after a few songs.. it grew on me. I like it.. but then again I used to listen to punk bands who's singers sounded like fuxkin Cartman🤣
I was so hyped to see them live and then heard her vocals live 😬😬 she has like no low end in her live vocals and it really sucks cause I love their albums
@@benhostetter4775 Glad to hear! I'm seeing them at the Jacksonville date. I'm cautiously optimistic lol, but despite how the vocals are live, I'm stoked for the energy and overall sound as well
I saw the Code Orange tour too. She is getting better and better!! They killed it ! Their stage presence is phenomenal! Hang in there with them plus they are blowing up !!
Saw them last night in Jax and they put on such a good show. Someone uploaded footage of the show if you'd like to check it out :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5p40pEhEfB4.html&ab_channel=CommanderShepherd
The clean vocals were great! It's only the scream technique she hasn't gotten down yet. I mean, it doesn't sound bad to my punk ears, but she's gonna damage her voice trying to do this long term. On a side note, the mix is incredible! Really, great job
Seeing these guys tomorrow along with Vended, Loathe Band sounds like a 2000s band, pretty cool. Vocalist seems like they've been on a constant tour, but still interested in sseeing these guys, never heard of em til now
@@BreakzTheGod I saw them last night in Jax w/ their tour with Code Orange, and they did super well. Someone uploaded footage of their set :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5p40pEhEfB4.html&ab_channel=CommanderShepherd
Give this girl time to work on perfecting her technique and learning how to preserve her voice and I’m sure she’ll go far. If she keeps this up she’ll destroy her voice in no time. Cool band tho
@@woadie5129 100%, when bands blow up quick and start touring nonstop with minimal off days it takes a toll if you’re technique/stamina isn’t full seasoned yet. I think she still sounds great, and stage moves are ballin. Great vocalist, Great energy.
@@woadie5129 i seen her in September and she sounded just like in the record. To me it’s sounds like she might be screaming in a improper way or maybe bc she been touring so much.
For anyone concerned Emma's vocals sound bad live, I had the same concern but saw them in Jacksonville recently on that Code Orange tour, and she sounded really good. Band's energy was great too. Here's some footage someone uploaded of their full set from that show: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5p40pEhEfB4.html
The albums are huge hits and it's thanks to Emma. Her live vocals are trash, but she's improved so much. Once she gets the voice preservation and recovery down they'll be incredible live
On this bands spotify why are all the related artists just random bands with no listeners that aren’t from the US? Kinda sus, i think they’re paying for monthly listens
i think emma and the band are great people and sounds great just work on the vocals and especially the singing idk but it seems like she was good after first now just eh not a fan of the vocals sounds so blegh id give her time.
Yea they've been touring loads, no vocalist (in this genre) never sounds 100%, especially when touring they way they are right now (Slipknots live album is a perfect example). The rougher sound appeals to my punk side anyway. I am sure once she has more experience under her belt they will improve. Singing in your local area is way different than doing it at sea level with 80% humidity one day to 4000ft with 30% humidity the next and so on. Takes a lot to get used to. Plus as others have pointed out her energy and aura more than makes up for it. She reminds me of early '00's Jamie Jasta on stage which is all the fuel I need!
A lot of people are gonna be mad cause people are critiquing a female, but the truth of the matter is she sounds absolutely bad. I mean I kinda feel bad for her. I like their recordings too, but if she sounds like this all the time.. a lot of people that aren’t even vocalists can prob match that.
@@LeoSypniewski fr, leave the poor woman alone. I can wager any amount of money that the 99% majority of neck beards on here have zero touring or performing experience
Fucking hell, the whinging in the comments! I thought this was going to be all time awful, but it's fine. Yeah, not a perfect match for the record and I've seen better performances from Emma (and worse!), but it's ok. As a couple of other comments noted, they're still very new to long tours rather than occasional shows and that definitely comes with a learning curve as to what you can sustainably do with your voice as an unclean vocalist.
