I haven’t felt this connected to a wings team in more than a decade. Sometimes you don’t recognize legends developing before your eyes. This year we’ve seen glimpses of what we’re watching evolve. Seider, Raymond, Larkin aren’t all time names yet. But man we could watch them turn into that in the next few years.
From Yzerman to Lidstrom to Zetterberg, talk about having big shoes to fill, a seemingly impossible task, yet Larkin did it and I couldn't be more proud to have him as our captain
I want to give a huge shoutout to Kenzie Larkin for her strength and support as a wife and a person. Her strength to boost Dylan back to playing hockey even after an unimaginable loss does not get credited enough. The families behind the guys are just as important as the guys on the ice. All love to you, Kenzie Larkin. May God bless your family.
I adore this man as our captain. But hearing him talk about his personal stuff almost brings you to tears. There are a lot kf fans thst have stood behind him, but there are so many that shot on him still. Imagine he was 100%. He would have had a career year. I dont understand the hate for him. He gives 100 to this team. We know you will bring a cup home for us one year, and i will cry like a baby watching you hoist it high!
Love you, Larks. My favorite player, and you just seem like such a nice guy. Thanks for everything you did this season, and I hope you have a great off-season. Hopefully, one day, I'm fortunate enough to meet you.
Listening to Larkin always gets me so excited about this team. But man him talking about his personal life just send shivers. Feel for this man so badly. And wanted to get rewarded this year! Till next season for larks!
Larks has been through some seriously rough times (this year especially) and the team cares so much about him. Him and his wife have the full support of Michigan behind them. We love you DBoss❤
Dylan, you have so much to be proud of. Just know this city is behind you. We love our Red Wings and we truly appreciate you and the team. Hang in there bro. This season, sucks as it may have ended, is just part of the building process. With your leadership, you will get this team to the top. After all, we are Hockeytown. Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you in Traverse City.
My captain!! Thank you for another season of awesomeness! We love you here in Detroit and thank you for everything you battled through both personally and professionally. You wear your heart on your sleeve and we love you!
Larks and Kane both interviewed with a direct response to what needs to happen and what they see for the future. No dancing around issues, just straight honest answers. I am really excited for next season.
I think he definitely wants to stay if they can work out a good deal for everyone I do believe Kane loves Detroit He seemed alot happier then when on the rangers But if this team is trying to only build on young players from Griffins without getting a couple big free agent signings I wouldn't stay if I were Kane He's getting older and can't afford a couple more years of just making playoffs or not even making them but who knows We will find out very soon
Love that Dylan takes his time to think about his answers. So classy and professional, no bobble head answers like 99% of other players around the league
No playoff yet, but this feels like a team that is just now connecting, this feels like it's going somewhere amazing This was a great season and an amazing finish 🎉
We love you Captain! Thank you for giving your all this season Larks! Chin up, take that disappointment and hurt and turn it into fuel for next season🐙 (as D Mac says, this could be a blessing in disguise)
I absolutely love this man; what a noble and passionate leader! He deserves so much success. I've been through the same family related things and recognize completely the pain in his eyes when he spoke about it briefly. We are lucky to have him; it angers me immensely when Wings fans rag on him.
I feel so bad for larkin. Guy deserves better players around him. I know u cant just have anyone and everyone u want...but yzerman has got to get rid of the 5 or 6 players who are just along for the ride on this team and not contributing enough. I know its a big list but those are the ones.
@bartsanders1553 veleno should have been that guy. And if I see petry on this team or holl I will really be upset. I don't care how much his contract costs to buyout. Holl didn't play much but there both just abysmal. I think the list I gave is big. But since Feb it looked like no one could handle the puck. Can't handle a pass. Always mishandling and bobbling. We can't defend the blue line. And no physicality at all. Soft team. No creativity on offense. No one wa to to get in tough dirty spots for scoring opportunities. We have no net front presence. I dunno if it's coaching or lack of talent and I will not pretend to know the answers. But this team had no system it felt. It felt like a free for all out there. I dunno but I pray we get it together. Red wings are to iconic of a franchise to be missing the damn playoffs. And I have 100% faith in yzerman to get it done. It made take a little longer but I will bet he makes this team whole! LGRW!
@bartsanders1553 agreed. Especially the way holland left it. But if we don't at least make they playoffs next year (which we will, I know we will) then yzerman needs to start being more aggressive and spend the money to do something. How do u feel about lalonde bartsanders? I don't know how he is in locker room or what his system is. All I can go on is what I see on ice. And like I said it feels like there is no system to are play. And nobody defends the blue line whatsoever. I feel that I'm not certain he is they coach to get us very far. But yzerman knows whether or not he is the guy. I personally feel if it were lalonde or burube I would go burube. There is no excuse for this team and roster to have a 9 pt lead and lost out 5-20 games down the stretch during most important point of season. I feel that was the coaches responsibility to have them prepared each and every game during that 7 game losing stretch...after first 2 of those losses coach should have said no more. But game after game they came out unprepared stale, no effort, no care, no heart, no emotion, no urgency, no nothing. I was disgusted with what I saw. And the mistakes petry was making were inexcusable. We sat sprong for poor play, we sat walman for poor play, and petry is out there playing with more on ice time then seider. I know petry is the right side defender but that was atrocious. Ur thoughts?
@@Gr8erdetfan I thought going into this season we had no good excuse to not make the playoffs. I still feel that way, but missing by a tie breaker isn't the end of the world. Progress. I feel like non-Wings fans are more upset about them missing than the fans are. Next season definitely feels like there should be pressure to make it. I don't know enough about the coaching to make a call there. I'd want to sit in on some practices to see, but there is and should be pressure next season. Kinda nice to be disappointed in losing again.
We love you Larks, gut wrenching way to get kicked out but now we know that every single point is important, next season you guys will be hungry as fuck and easily make it
What an exciting end to the season. We were so close. The future is bright. Its too bad we didnt make it. I think we would have gone further than Washington. LGRW
I'm bummed about this season and it seems Kane is probably leaving. I feel bad for Larkin he went through a lot and he gave a lot to the team and they still came up short.
@@MPDLRwell, in his interview he did mention how he wants a longer term. The last few years hes played in 3 different states. He may want another shot at a contender. But how many contenders will give him a long term deal? Im assuming long term for a 35yr old is 3 or 4 years.
Larks has endured the drought more than anyone and continues to elevate his game. Will be very rewarding to see him lead this team into the playoffs sooner than later.
@stuke8859 Have problems with facts? I' ve followed the Wings since this since late 60' s.This non playoff streak is longest in franchise history. During the other loser eras they had some close misses too, but the end results were still failures
Dylan, you are what the C on your jersey should embody! You always say the right things when they need to be said. Very proud of this organization and what it has gone through in the past few years. P.S. this was written on the anniversary of another great captain becoming the GM of this amazing organization. (5 years!)
@dankill9131 Time to come clean Jr. How many pairs of # 71 larkin pj' s do you have? 😅 PS You should head to the store and get another 71 jersey with the trash patch ( how fitting) then remember, your boy Captain 🧁 is the only Red Wing player ever to miss the playoffs 8 years in a row.
@@ericw3229 I can't imagine my life being such a hate filled person such as yourself. Why don't you put your time and energy into something productive for society?
I think I heard it was like a 3 year contract with priority. But lets be honest, as superstitious as hockey players and fans are, we all know that little piece of fabric on their jersey has nothing to do with performance or outcome. It just happened to coincide with the slump. I get it, it's fun to say "garbage patch kids" but as fans how about we don't carry that over to next season
@Detwhat haha you must not be getting my point. I agree with you. But it's nonsense to think the patch effects the play of the players. Yall are fucking crazy
"This has to fuel you" Larkin says about how this loss should effect them next year. Indeed, for the players that come back I hope they wear it as a chip on their shoulders.
Is he okay...? Dude has seemed very down in the dumps even before the end of the season. Gotta think about the toll a season puts on you mentally. Hope he's good damn
If you Google him and his wife you will find out what happened mid season, minus his injury. I’m not going to put it out there it’s not my place, but there are some local Detroit articles about it. His mental health has definitely been tested this past season, but I’m so proud of him still showing up and putting in work even when he doesn’t feel okay mentally. Hopefully he can heal alongside his wife in the off season. Wishing them both the very best!
Yeah, its a terrible thing to go through. My best friend went through it. Their marriage was very much on the brink. But they were able to work things out and almost 2yrs later they had a successful pregnancy. Something like that takes a phycological toll that can lead to real physical problems.
@@shelbyhostutler4356 yeah I knew all that. Def not looking over the fact that he went through all that. Dude just seems to be going through it. Can't blame him but man, tough
We love you dylan larkin ...so sorry ..my heart is say 2024-2025 Detroit red wings playoff...and 2026 or 2026-2027 Detroit red wings Stanley cup champion ❤️❤️❤️
Everyone loves Larkin ❤️ can’t wait to see this team progress and hopefully go farther next season. They wouldve been so exciting to watch in this seasons playoffs, but it is what it is. LGRW 🐙
70% of the time they dump the puck behind the net they loose control of the puck.meanwhile 2 forward are rushing past the goalie to get behind the net.% watch any game with pen and paper % don't do what is failing
Larkin's attitude really disappoints me. He sounds just like the coach. He sounds so disappointing. Grow a pair, and get ready for next season. I've not heard any hockey player, so freak'en sad. It's done, over, you didn't make it. On the other hand, you have the nucleus of a special team. Work on it, and lead your team to something great. Stop looking backward and look forward.
Doesn’t really matter what you think of his attitude. The team fell apart without him on the ice. His presence is clearly huge for this team. Any lingering questions about his fit as captain have disappeared after this season. Either you completely ignored what his teammates have said about him throughout the season, or you just don’t get it.
I was Really going to Rip into you for your Absolutely Heartless Stupid Comment but the Above 3 comments said it for me! You don't like his attitude? Well Tough!😠 The Captain and his wife lost a child! And Yet he Still came back and played Most of the season and had 33 goals! Yeah that's REAL easy isn't it? Hockey is a Freaking Game! You didn't like his Attitude too Damn Bad! 😤😠
Another collapse and a failure in the last month,...again,all you needed to do was beat the caps at home,...you were up 9 points,...another season with no Stanley cup playoffs logo on the ice,...
I love seeing the human side of the players, even when it makes you cry. It would be nice to see more of that (not the tear-jerking part though--we've had enough of that this season). What a special player and person Larks is. Great choice giving him the C.
