I really liked watching this learned many concepts and techniques. I only wished the camera had stayed zoomed out and panned less. The constant zooming and panning left and right made me dizzy and impatient at some point, but worse than that it did not allow to see the scope of the movement of the players. The general idea is understood but it could have been so much more of an impact. Would love to see this again live or without the panning. Never the less I am very thankful for making it available. Did you hear what he said on 17:15? it is an isolated part of something more, then on 30:00 they are finishing, i guess you may need imagination for that part
Dynamic Functional Finishing video is loaded with great technical points; however, it demonstrates why in a heavily coach centred program and progression players fail to perform to their potential. Striker complimentary movement is a great to teach players and requires specific technical application but it is also contextual. Building technique without purpose is problematic: coach centred, players do not know when and where to apply the how of technique, they fail to translate the patterns into their play, and they fail to solve their own problems. Coaching as an art should know when to liberate a player and when to constrain a player so as to reveal their potential. His argument against SSG and demonstration, while professionally executed, is not convincing.
+Tony Dickson I agree to an extent. I would have expected these players to have been able to pick up the movement and technique quickly as they are the Unions U16 Academy team. They couldn't and a lot of the time there were messing around and not giving Jozak their full attention. I've ran this session with my own team and they picked it up very quickly. Also, you have to remember that he ran a full session in a limited amount of time, whereas, I had the time to demonstrate the technique and movement more quickly.
+Tony Dickson I don't know how much convincing Mr.Jozak has to do. His club is probably the best youth academy in Europe if not in the world and they have been winning a lot of the European youth competitions as well as and more importantly producing academy youth products to be promoted to 1st division teams. That being said, I do not know what you know about him, but they must be doing something right over there in Croatia because even Arsenal offered Romeo a contract to run their youth academy so just because we might not see or like a particular exercise it doesn't mean it's wrong. This guy is probably one of the best coaches in the world.
What you are seeing is that technically good (American) players get REALLY sloppy when forced to play fast. It shows that they are only good at playing at slower speeds. If you can't execute basic passing patterns with quality at top speed and without defenders then trying to teach anything more complicated is pointless.
