Dynamic balancing rotor & impeller of 250HP motor | Level G1.0
Dynamic balancing definition: “Dynamic balancing is a way of balancing machines by rotating parts quickly and measuring the imbalance using electronic equipment. The imbalance measured can then be corrected by adding or subtracting weight from the rotating parts until the vibration is reduced.”

Was the overhung impeller already balanced or taken into consideration?

For this case, we balanced the impeller first because it was too much out of balance. We made a new shaft for the impeller balancing, after that we put the impeller on the rotor and balance again. In most of the cases, you can balance them together.

@@ontarioelectricmotorman7309 good practices. In our shop, we found that up to 20% of new impellers are not balanced to G-1 SPECS. same for various other attachments also. We had a customer complain of excessive vibration in a hazelton pump we rebuilt, less impeller. They installed a worn impeller with improper gap at wear ring. Go figure!!!.

@@twintwo1429 yes, we would need the impeller, pulley or coupling sent in with the motor, unless it is a small unit.

@@ontarioelectricmotorman7309 so what if i choose less than 1/3 the speed ? like motor rated speed is 3000rpm but i use 400rpm for balance speed
