Nicely explained, now going to implement it on my saw bench with new easy to reach controls.

Great video. But dynamic braking is best applied only on light load such as grinding machine. For heavy load, the old and tested disc brake is still the best.

yes true but as you know we should always use the equipment that fits the application a regen brake can be successful for heavier loads.

Hi, What value is the HTR for this example, and what make would you recommend?

I have tried this application also, 3 phase 440 v 0.5 hp motor and it draws 0.9 amp and that's ideal current! But when I applies dc breaking winding current goes to 1.8 amps! Do you think the heat generated by this dc current will affect to ac motor?

Sorry for the delay response, you could add more resistance to you DB circuit (where the cone heater is) but that will slow your braking, otherwise the worry we should have with your 1.8A is over heating your windings but it is not for a long duration so if you motor is robust enough it could handle the higher current while braking. The motor in the video FLA was 5.5A and we put 18A DC through it with no mechanical load if the motor has some inertial load it could take longer to stop therefore high current for a longer duration = more heat build up.
