In this dynamic, I used a disposable plastic cup to illustrate an important message. Based on the text of Isaiah 53:5, I mentioned that Jesus took our infirmities upon himself and made a comparison between our life and the cup, kneading it to represent the pains and wounds of life.
I then asked if that crumpled cup could be used again and many people might think not as it is damaged and disposable. However, God does not see things as man sees and He is able to smooth out, restore and heal the wounds. While the folds and marks on the cup can be likened to the scars we leave behind after being healed, God heals us and strengthens us to continue the journey.
God heals our wounds, but he often leaves scars to remind us how strong we are and remind us of the battles we face. Like the cup that was uncrushed and restored, we can be healed and restored by God. It gives us another chance to live fully and purposefully, remembering the scars that make us stronger and more resilient.
