This is a video that shows the initial calibration procedure for my DPB program. This was all done in C#, and using an Arduino pro-Mini as the data gatherer from an Accelerometer. More information: Head over to rcgroups and do a search for dynamic propeller balancer for the thread and a lot more info...

This is incredible work! I can't believe I didn't know this existed. I do wish there was a easy compact way to perform this balancing. Like a clip onto a motor arm, and a simple tachometer to gauge the rotation. Balancing with the motor on the drone is the most difficult problem to solve.

Thanks for your work on this sophisticated balancer. I'd like to know a few details about what the device and software are actually measuring. Could you please comment on what quantity is actually being plotting in the scrolling graph? Are these plots of raw acceleration values in two or three directions? And what is the number that appears in the box below the graph that you use as a measure of vibration-- how is it calculated? Also could you comment on how the circular graph in the upper left is plotted -- what is the meaning of the radial "beam" that settles out at a particular angle on the plot? Could you also say something about where the sensor is relative to the motor-propeller system? Thanks very much.

How exactly you are measuring the vibration levels for a rotating body? Im trying to similar test but could not find any instrument which does this. I mean accelerometer...pls help with some links

just asking the obvious why do you not start by first balancing the motor, if that is balanced, then balance the consumables ( propellors) on the balanced unit?

No reason....you can absolutely do that...

Hi,Cyborg Neuromancer Nice work here .I´m also developing a balancing system with a microcontroler ,I use a dspic33ep512mc504 running at 70 Mhz,I use a MPU6050 and a sensor to mesure speep and rotation. The principle I´m working to calculate the angle is mesure the vibration at diferent angles (calculating average of mesures) and then compare all mesures to find the angle where it vibrates more and the one tha vibrates less. Right now I´m testing this principle. What do you think?Will it work?How do you calculate the angle ? Thanks.Keep on your great work. Luis Ferreira

Wow, That's what I've always needed for the big 13+" propellers. Is there a tutorial how to make one? Please

Great looking app, however, i tried installing on several machines to no avail, from Windows 7 to 10... can you shed some light? I have many years experience as an O/S specialist and can;t figure this one out. would love to know if you've made any advancements in this program. cheers

Sorry to hear that..I am running it on windows 10..not sure what the issue is. No advancements..been too busy with other projects for the moment...sorry....

understood and thank you , i was trying to get it working on Windows 10 but it says the installer is corrupt, would you have an archive of the working version? sorry to bother you with this but i was really hoping to get something happening as i bought all the parts and i think you created the beginnings of a great program :/ p.s. i am a C/C++ programmer and would love to look over the source if open...

Hello friend, this equipment is really cool! I downloaded the arduivos but the zip of the software you are using has a password to open the zip! Do you know the password for me to unzip or is this software paid? thank you very much!

Do you think it is possible to combine your setup with this project: www.technologie-entwicklung.de/Gasturbines/Balancing_Tool/balancing_tool.html I love the fact that you use an Arduino, accelerometer and software to visualize the imbalance. With regards, Peter

You would need 4 gates to make this accurate IMO. I'm not even sure how you get a reading with an accelerometer sure the unbalanced prop would pull xy in all directions eg 360
@cyborg251
@cyborg251 6 лет назад
Thomas Shannon yes, but when you take a measurement at precisely the same direction every time, you find out that the imbalance vector will point in the direction of imbalance...hence the optical pickup...do some more balance vector theory reading...you are close...:-)

Ah yes I understand that now. If optical light is cut take a reading statement. I guess it might have some delay in reading hence the need for calibration.
