Me and my dad used to randomly spin the character pick list with our eyes closed and use the characters that we chose. Such good memories with this game.

The fact that this game was an absolute grind and that it got harder as you went along. Is what makes this my all time favourite. Heck the Musou were unique and actually finished with quicker succession hits instead of something fancy.

This is one of my all time favourite games, I spent HOURS as a kid playing DW3, and led to the Dynasty Warriors series becoming my guilty pleasure in the video game world. It's actually sad to see how far the series has fallen with DW9, at least this game's crap voice acting gave it a certain fun charm to it; DW9's bad voice acting was just sad.

It's been over 10 years since I've played this, along with DW 4, game. Ah, the memories.

Me and my brother played this game for so many hours. We shared the heroes 50/50 and were so excited for every new hero. Our all time favorite game. So sad the new DWs are like animes.

Back when weapons were locked no equipping the halberd to anyone or free roaming nonsense. Story trump's open world anytime. I loved the Meng Huo battle with the Elephants. First game I ever bought for my PS2

this was my first ever video game I got when was 10 with the PS2 from my parents and I LOVE it still. Shame ALL other Dynasty Warriors games sucks compare to this one. wished they whold do a remaster to this one and realse it to all consoles.

I wish the musou attacks were still like this, after dynasty warriors 5, the musou attacks were so overpowered that you could kill 20+ guys with it, but in 2-5, you'd be lucky if you could kill 10 with your musou.

While it is cool that modern DW titles are equipped with a significantly better engine to be able to show musou attacks in fluid real-time, it's still so satisfying to go back and watch the old games where hordes of enemies get slashed & juggled around in slow motion: Hearing that lovely ASMR of your character's fiery weapon swinging and the cries of enemy troops getting hit. If the newer games had an optional feature in which you could slow down the motion speed of on-screen action and catch a better glimpse & listen of your moveset knocking out waves of enemies, it would be absolutely fantastic.

Yes !! I remember Very Hard mode was effectively fucking hard on this one ! It was the first with Xtreme Legends extension. And french voices were hilarious !

I spent more hours on this game alone than any other game to date, i had all weapons, maxed out stats and all items at max plus level! I even got my cousin into playing all dw3xl stages and weapons as well! I was a junkie for more after 3, had to own every game and grind until there was nothing to do except grind some more! Dw6 and dw9 to me were worst in the franchise, I truly hope DWX or DW10 will b worth the wait!!

These musou attacks are so satisfying to unleash on your enemies.

People saying they played the game when kids and had great fun. I didn't, but a friend of mine did, and asked me to play the game just recently, as adults. The game got boring after finishing the first campaign. Dying can make you lose all the effort you put in the last 30+ minutes of game. Sometimes you start looking for HP recovery for several minutes, and if you get hit by an arrow, you're done. We ended up using save states because we didn't want to lose more time. Sometimes I get duplicated items/weapons or even worse ones. So I have to play time and again until the game smiles upon me and spares me something that's worth the time. And I have to do this for every character. No way. If it wasn't for the insane grinding, the game would be fun. So overall the game seems fun for kids, but for adults it's a chore.

The JP voice acting for all musou attacks is just godlike (they did all the attacks, killed/defeated, etc.). Nothing beats the slow-mo yell when they are about to unleash hell. Gan Ning, Lu Bu, Zhang Fei, honestly almost all of them are just so good. And the crunch from hitting enemies is just...perfection. We need this game to be remastered (and maybe make a dw3 empires or something, I got ideas).

Honestly for future EN Dynasty Warriors, they should have the attacks, hurt, death, etc. be JP while the voice acting is in EN. Make EN the so bad it's good voice acting (it's so iconic), while the JP va's gives the feel of badass fights.
