Zhang Liao is a clone of Lu Meng. The main difference between them is that Lu Meng's s-string is better and focuses on wide swings, whilst Zhang Liao's charge attacks are better and attacks all around him. Stat wise Zhang Liao is average all-around, with Lu Meng having higher stats but at the cost of lower HP. Both characters are extremely good, though Zhang Liao's moveset is definitely more flashy than Lu Meng's "simple but effective" moveset so Zhang Liao is probably the one more fun to play as.
This stage can go two ways. Either Lu Meng defeats Lu Bu with an ambush, or you team up with Lu Bu to defeat Lu Meng. Wu sends many ambushes at the main camp and centre in an attempt to distract you from Lu Bu charging Lu Meng, but if you're fast enough you can save Dong Zhuo in time and then advance together with Lu Bu.
I do like how Lu Bu gets called out for falling for a trap so obvious. If he gets defeated, Diaochan will be annoyed and say "Must I do everything by myself?".
Also, stay away from Gan Ning if he is on foot. Juggle him until he gets to low HP where his true musou isn't as damaging as his regular musou.
