I could've sworn Lu Bu would tank damage and not stagger when hit in duels when I was a kid. I remember avoiding duels from him, specifically, and just killing him outside duels. :[
You remembered correctly. However, what most remember is when we fought Lu Bu in Musou mode in the 2nd campaign (Hu Lao Gate) when our characters were barely leveled. Hence why he doesn't flinch when we hit him. Lu Bu at Hu Lao Gate has capped stats which are equivalent to a playable enemy officer stats in Expert difficulty during later campaigns such as Wu Zhang Plains. This is Lu Bu a few stages in Cao Cao's Musou mode with medium stats. However, with that said, this was recorded using DW4XL which had updated AI system that goes nuts! He may not have the high stats but he is much harder to fight against. Notice in the beginning of this match, I had to spend some time to try to make him waste his Musou. Otherwise, he would use it defensively the moment I get a hit in. Once I was able to do that, I had to do a combo that would launch him in the air before he got another Musou back. Finally, I would do an infinite juggle to kill him. You'll see similar things I had to do in the other duels videos to be successful.
Lol whenever he showed up when my bro and i were playing i'd like go in and do everything i can and get my ass whooped and right before i die i'd run away and my bro would charge in and have his go and in the meanwhile i'd look for health and we'd just keep repeating till he died xD
So long ago..me and my cousin would play this game and when lu bu would come we'd literally be scared shitless and be like, "ITS LU BU, RUN!" And we'd be like on the edge of our seats while he chased us on the horse. We even made a fail strategy, my cousin would shoot him with a bow while i'd go and try to fight xD

@theshadowofdarkneify Lu Bu's and Zhang Fei's taunt/announce can be blocked. But unlike other people's announce, theirs do a considerable amount of damage when hit.

its would have been better if they could do only what they can do in real life, like zhou tai cant block 100% of lu bu's moves, and spam jump attacking
