the main advantage of a Dyson is the cyclone assembly. It works and it does not get clogged - if maintained. The heads are too close to the floor and won't pick up big objects - as you noticed - not sure why they are designed like that. The Dyson's also won't release anything in the air - and you don't need to change filters or bags for that to happen. That I believe has been confirmed by some tests. (Yes, a Miele won't do that either but you'll have to account for bags and filters over time). I have a second Dyson in my workshop, I use it connected to circular saw, sander etc. Any other cleaner would clog after seconds, requiring a new bag. I'm not saying that Dyson's are the best ever - just sharing my experience with a 10y old DC-08! :)
I read many reports and seen pictures of Dyson Cylones that are absolutely packed with dust and they don't make them easy to take apart for the average user, so after a period of time even a Dyson can loose suction.
+ibaisaic Yes, I've seen those videos too. however my 10y DC08 never had this problem and I've disassembled it twice. I feel that if the cyclone is properly maintained (emptied in time and filters cleaned) then it will perform OK. I've also heard that there was a specific model of Dyson with a design flow which was causing the cyclone to clog - Dyson apparently took care of the problem with all the existing customers.
@@ibaisaic They do get clogged with dust probably 50% of the time. The hardest part about putting it back together is the spring. No one ever washes their filters and half the people do not empty the bin every time they use it.
Thank you! This is a very informative video. I bought this model 13 years ago; it’s still going strong. Since then I’ve found 2 more that people have left on the curb; they only needed minor repairs. Best of all is your T shirt! I am owned by a stubborn little sausage dog who rules our house! Thanks again! I’m now subscribed so I’ll see what else I can learn.
I have the American version of that white vacuum, the Shark Navigator NV355. It’s the only vacuum I’ve ever used that handles diatomaceous earth without a problem. Bissells (didn’t filter out the DE and just blew it right back out), Kirbys (bag pores clogged and the brush roll belt started slipping as DE built up on it), and Filter Queens (blew out the paper cone seams), none have handled it quite like the Shark and it was a trash pick, it was abused really bad. They aren’t particularly robust machines, don’t expect a lifespan of more then about 3-5 years, but they do work really well.
thanks, I ordered one off Debenhams website a few hours ago,the puple one for £99, just had confirmation it will be here tomorrow.Ive spent the last few days looking at reviews on RU-vid and even though it was a long review and I also seen your unboxing on the Murphy Richards in some strange way I really enjoyed them.(how can someone get excited buying a vacuume).I just want to say a big thankyou for your time making such videos and helping people out like me make the right choice.THANKS
Bought my DC25 Animal at a thrift store for $25, the only problems with it was the canister/cyclone needed to be cleaned, and replaced the filters and brush head. It runs brand new now, and I've had it for 2 years.
Fantastic video....well done. You have saved me some money.Already got an old Dyson and was looking for a new one BUT you have now saved me a load of money and i like the detachable part of the Morphy Richards.
I found this video strangely captivating. It's probably because I'm considering a Dyson, but now I am leaning toward the Shark. I really dislike that the Shark's cable is on the right, because most people are right handed. It makes it much harder to route the cable with your left hand, but it wastes cable if you route with your left hand anyway.
***** The Dyson is amazing. It works perfectly but the only thing you need to know is that some carpets brands don't recommend Dyson because of it's extreme suction. I haven't had that problem with any of my large area rug and it really really cleans great! The only think I don't like is that I have to come here to figure out how to use the wand and get it back together.....
I finally just fixed my Hoover by just cleaning everything thoroughly...including the sponge-like filter which hadn't been cleaned since I had it (oops). Now it works much better. That Shark is still calling my name though.
***** I prefer the Dyson DC40 to the DC25. There's an unboxing and review on my channel. Shark seem good value compared to Dyson, but we don't get as many Shark models in the UK as you get in the US.
The DC25 is good on the carpet or at least my dad's DC25 Animal is. My dad's stairs are wide enough at the bottom to rest it on the step and it reached to the top but it wouldn't reach to the top. I filled it after one room on a fairly clean carpet. Would that be because it is the animal model or would the multifloor model perform the same in every day use?
I really wish that the care facility I work at once a week on Thursdays with my friends would have money in their funds to have an upright Dyson vacuum cleaner, because it lasts a long time. It's very easy to clean out when it's full. It's very expensive to keep and maintain which really sucks. Please demonstrate the Shark Rocket vacuum cleaner.
Just bought a DC25 on the strength of this excellent, informative video. Aldi in the UK are selling them for £199.99, which I think is a bargain. Regards, Garry Clarke.
hi roger i have the older model of dc25 multi floor at my dads and i done that sort of test and it done alot better than your one why i dont know and its used as a daily vacuum with a cat that leaves hair everywhere and the filters very rarely get washed
I also went out and bought the V8 hand held Plus i also bought a Dyson ball animal . BRILANT.i love Hovering but i still like my Dyson DC 25 still the best in solid white .
All we had to pay was the sales taxes on ours since we got it through HP rewards, I would never pay full price for this machine since there are so many flaws with it, not to mention its not ergonomic at the handle when you have to pull it around while using the extension wand, and, the cleaner wont stay in place on the floor, it tips over alot. Also, I have had to send it in to repair twice because of a faulty spinning mechanism that quit working, therefor the bar would not spin, which required me to drive all the way to the next town to have it shipped to Houston and use a back up cleaner until I got it back a week later. Granted it was a free repair but If I had paid full price on this piece of junk I would have been very upset.
i owned a dc41 animal due to me having two border collie dogs and found it always left dog fur on the carpet even after 5 passes so i bought a kirby vacuum cleaner and filled it up in less than a week with what dyson had left behind i am now a true believer in kirby and will not touch another make of vacuum cleaner what are your views on kirby. mine is a kirby sentria G10
Somehow my red step on part of the Dyson got cockeyed. One side is in a long grove and the other part connects into a round hole. Should I forcefully pull it out and put it into the groove? Or vice versa?
I wasn't impressed with the Dyson DC25 and have since sold the model in the video. There seems to be a lot of complaints online that the latest Dysons have gone downhill and it is very very unlikely that I will buy another Dyson. Check out my other videos for the Morphy Richards Complete clean, especially the one Vs the Henry Micro. If you don't need the dustaway tool, get the 73411 Family and Pets model. It's currently £99 from Amazon which is a bargain in my opinion.
No one has explained Dyson the way you did. Thank you! I had this DysonDC25 since it first came to the US market which was a lot of $$$ for a vacuum cleaner. Anyways 3 months ago it stopped working. I had time last week to take a look, i cleaned and washed filters and left it under Texas sun inside my car dash. After 24 hrs i put it back and now the vacuum is working, but now the motor or something is making annoying noise when vacuuming! Idk what it is! I watched few videos last night, they suggested it is the filter making the noise because of washing! What's your recommendation? I know you have more experience then any other reviewer i have watched this week.
@@seekfactsnotfiction9056yeah from what I know if the gasket on the hepa filter goes bad, air escapes from it which causes this whistling noise. In that case you will need to replace the filters
I actually rate the shark better, but the comparison of the 'lines' remaining in the dirt is unfair as you pulled the dyson back over the same path but with the shark you pulled it back about 2 inches to the right of where it went forward, thus picking up the lines on a different part of the brush
Jason Bodell It was not a deliberate act on my part that I didn't follow the exact path, but if I still owned either of these cleaners, I would do the same test but make sure the cleaners went at the same speed and stayed parallel to each other. If I were to test my Dyson DC40 against my Shark rocket, the Dyson would win in that case.
I've had hesitations about dyson, mainly cuz of their cost, being bagless, and the fact that most of their cylinder vacuums are air driven which for me is poor quality. I can see I was smart to stay with Electrolux.
what you do is use the dyson to pick up the muck as you would and use a miele or sebo to over the same carpet using an empty bag and compare the contents of it what the dyson left behind. it will give a comparison of the suction but also the agitation feature of the miele and sebo.
I'm sorry if this is a daft question, Roger, but would it be possible to clean the cyclones by running a teapot spout brush down them (I think it would be narrow enough) or would it scratch them too much?
It probably would work, but I have never seen a teapot spout brush. Any scratches would be on the inside, so I doubt it would matter if it did scratch.
ibaisaic It was the first thing I thought of as we always had one in the kitchen drawer when I was a child! I looked them up on eBay and Amazon and they are still available!
I wish you could get your hands on a Riccar or Simplicity vacuum with the Tandem motors, they would annihilate your bag of filth, however, I do not know if they are available in the U.K.
If my DC14 breaks down. Either my parents will get something else like shark or hoover or kribby. Or we will get a new dyson (Ball). It will be sad if we get something else. But my DC14 has been running for 7 years and it is as good as new (Except for the dirty filters, I am not 20 years old yet and we wont get a replacement)! I washed the upper filter 2 times but never the HEPA filter. I have opened it and it was black and dirty. I remembered when we got the DC14 new, I broke the crevice clip. I wish we had the crevice. It should be in one of the boxes.
+Hamza Hassan if you ever neek som help with you dyson look my up on face book or ebay christopher * simon i can help you out okay text me i can sort it out for you 07531380422 fell free to text or call
I'm thinking of doing a video in bare feet, with plenty of close ups of my foot pressing the handle release button. I may use the crevice tool to clean between my toes.
Dyson bins go cloudy so quickly, far faster than other bagless machines I have. Very annoying as my DC38 looks very scruffy now even when the rest of it is in perfect condition.
I did a similar test a few years ago with a Dyson dc07 vs vax power3 the Dyson wasn't anywhere near as good as the Vax Dyson was almost 3x the cost of the Vax , I think Dysons for the money are overrated compared with cheaper competitors machines
Dyson has gone downhill in my opinion. I have sold this cleaner since making this video as it really didn't perform very well. The brush roll started to rattle slightly too, so I was not impressed. I will not be purchasing another Dyson as the latest uprights seem to be even less well made.
I dont care how much the bagless cost; I will always buy a vacuum with a bag until they find a way to keep the waste from dusting up the air when emptying. So bad for our lungs even if emptying outside. Sebo is awesome!
Dyson = Overpriced and overrated. I just bought a Stihl SE 62 (Actually I think they are made by Nilfisk) . I got it at a knockdown price, ( same price as a Numatic Henry £100! they are normally about £170) OMG it's a beast! I had a Dyson animal before and The Stihl is 10 times better.💪
ibaisaic I have owned a Kirby for many years. It was fantastic at cleaning, but I just got fed up with the weight, and impracticality of the thing. I was researching what to replace it with, and after watching one of your reviews, I eventually got a Sebo Felix. I am delighted with this unassuming machine, which just does everything so well, and with a minimum of fuss. It is also well built, lightweight, and cleans really well, without the need to beat the carpet to death (unlike the Kirby) Thanks so much for your detailed reviews
