I guess you could try that. If you have a source of compressed air at hand... I have owned Dyson vacuum cleaners for over 10 years and am used to washing the filter. It is no bother and not at all messy. (I find the filter takes about 1 day to dry if near a Radiator or window sill, otherwise about 2 days to be fully dry). Water washes any dust residual away. I can imagine that blowing air would make clouds of fine dust.
I am glad you liked it. :D BTW - I have gotten into the habit to always remove the motor end when emptying out the dust compartment. That way I get to see the filter on a regular basis.Does take a few days to dry naturally!
Why tap the filter if you have to wash it? I wanted to see how you empty the canister. It for sure has to be done outside. A nice powerful air compressor could be used to remove the fine dust particles inside the "cyclone" area. A respirator should be worn if that is going to be done though. 0:58 - Please share info from the manual, not what you make up. The manual says that it takes 12 hours for the filter to dry in sunlight. It should be washed at least every month using cool or cold water. More frequent washing is required if used mainly in 'MIN' power mode and if vacuuming fine dust (p. 8).
For emptying the dust canister - you need to watch a different video about just that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dQMu1VroBbU.html Regarding tapping. Removes the top layer of dust. Pre-wash. I recommended to wash the filter regulalry. More oftern then the manual suggests. I wash mine about once a week, after I have cleaned the house. I find my filters take longer than 12 hours to dry. So I recommend longer as that is safer than having water get sucked into the machine. Feel free to follow strictly the mannual if you prefer!
The video was great, though I understand how to clean the filter and empty the canister. My issue I am having is actually getting the inside of the vacuum canister clean. There has been quite a build up and I want to make sure It stays in working order. Do you happen to know how to get the inside clean?
Not as standard - but that is a good idea! We use ours all the time and you are right. 15 minutes of pressing the trigger is enough to become noticeable.
+Davehiphop This video only covers the filter. Here is my one that covers things like the battery: from 11:00 onwards ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xzbKC3m03Jc.html
I was given a DC44 Animal. I press the red power/on button.......there is NO SUCTION (there are no connections to the vacuum just like yours - look at 7 second mark of this video - left of grey button/tube) although I can feel the air blowing out on my face (again at 7 seconds - just above where your right fingers are) . I have just discovered that there is NO FILTER. Would this be the reason there is no suction?
You need to buy a filter. it protects the motor as well as helps improve the air by filtering out very small particles. eBay etc sell parts. many people have two so one can be washed and dry fully whilst the other (cleaned) one is used.
@@TomStrong Thanks for the reply but what I am trying to ascertain is the following. There is currently NO SUCTION at all. Do you think that is because there is no filter and the machine therefore automatically stops it from creating any suction?
