I also drove the entire M-50 in August. It's a pretty long drive compared to M-30 or M-40. The engineering is quite interesting, with all those interchanges, collector roads and spacious design on the east side. It's very different from the ring roads of say, Paris,. Milan or even Berlin. If I remember correctly pretty much the entire M-50 is 120 km/h except in tunnels.
As opposed to the ringroads of Paris or Milan M-50 had almost no space and/or budget constraints so its design is something you don't see outside places like the UAE. Most of it is indeed 120 km/h though the speed limit is treated like a gentle suggestion...
Hi, Ben. The AP-7 is toll free for around 650 to 700 kilometres (From the French border to Alicante) The rest of AP-7 stretches (Alicante's Bypass, from Crevillente to Vera (Excepting the Cartagena's Bypass) & Fuengirola-San Roque (Excepting the Marbella & Estepona Bypasses) are still tolled & the concessionaires for the Bypass of Alicante & Crevillente - Vera stretches are owned by SEITT (The Spanish Government's toll concessionaire) & the Fuengirola - San Roque stretch is owned by Autopista del Sol (A branch of Ferrovial). The concessions of those stretches are gonna end in from 18 to 32 years as of 2022
@@euglev3548 AP-1 begins 240 kilometres or 150 miles north of Madrid, in Burgos. But tolled AP-1 begins in Vitoria, 320 km or 200 mi north of Madrid. There are plans to build a new tolled radial motorway north of Madrid, from M-50 & R-2 West interchange to just after Somosierra mountains, in the province of Segovia (100 km north of Madrid)
The way it was proposed (as a toll tunnel) would likely be a failure. A toll-free road would be a relief for congestion in the north lf Madrid but I doubt its price tag would be justified.
