As the runner of this game, I'll give you guys some background information on the run. For those that don't know, the goal of the game is to find 3 phone pieces that are found in random pits. Once you find all 3 pieces, you must find a random tile on the map that allows you to call home. This starts a ~30 sec countdown until your ship lands. You must be standing on a specific tile as the 30 sec are up in order to beat the game. The scientist (guy in white) tries to take you back to the lab and the FBI agents (guy in yellow) takes one of your phone pieces. If one of these guys are on the screen as the countdown runs out, the ship won't land. Speed Run Tricks Holding down the fire button while turning on the system causes the phone pieces to always be in the same optimal spots for a speed run, thus removing all of that random nonsense finding them. Entering the pits at the edges to remove most of the time hovering out of them. Hovering is really slow. While waiting for the timer to countdown, I let the scientist take me to the lab because it works out time wise so one of them doesn't show up as the ship is about to land. (They usually spawn in intervals) I hope that helps you guys understand how this game work. :3 P.S. I actually like this game.

I have the displeasure of having this be one of the first games I ever played. but of course I was 4 at the time and knew no better. But yes, it's that bad.
A great, early RPG that makes perfect sense if the player actually reads the instructions. You can also lower the difficulty so the annoying agent and annoying doctor aren't in the game.
You know, as sad as it sounds, I'm kinda glad you guys did this. I remember playing this when i was a kid and had no idea what the hell was going on. So i am glad to finally see the ending of this game (not that i actually cared about it mind you)
Most of the Atari 2600 games, that I grew up on, were great when I was kid but pretty crappy now. E.T. was absolute garbage when I played it as a kid and historically recognized as one of the worst ever now. Same goes for the 2600 port of Pac-Man. When I got older and learned that those two games nearly destroyed gaming, it made perfect sense. On the plus side, they're also the reason I almost never complain about game length or price now. After E.T. and the 2600 version of Pac-Man, I feel like I'm living in the future now. Games like Mass Effect, Portal and The Last of Us are the gaming equivalent of teleportation, laser beams and hover boards for me.
And it was all due to politics. The designers, artists, coders and programmers knew it would be crap when they were forced to meet unreasonable deadlines pushed by their supervisors. Their company's rush to be first to market with the titles along with expiring licensing agreements are what caused the horrors that became the 2600's ET and PacMan.
There's a reason they buried thousands of unsold copies of this cart in the desert back in the day. It sucked then too! It was largely responsible for the great videogame crash of the 80s. Raiders of the Lost Ark was much better and a fine example of a movie game that didn't suck. One of the very first movie tie-ins (along with Empire Strikes Back).
Haha, this shit is hilarious! I bought this game back when it came out and never made it past the second screen. Didnt know WTF to do! Back then, nowhere to look, nobody to ask, lol. As someone who has played videogames from the very first consoles all the way to the newest ones now, this game still reigns as my all-time shittiest game! Just laughing thinking about what my 8 yr old face looked like trying to comprehend this steaming pile of alien shit back then.
This was back in the Early stages of gaming when games were Arcady and short. They were no where near the technology used in games today so I can not see why people are giving so much hate.
Clearly, I do know...Otherwise I wouldn't have said "Even Back then it Sucked". I know the stories about the mythical landfill full of copies of this game....
Im going to give a fair review on this game. Ahhh lets start with the music and sound effects. You can tell they sampled sounds from a bird with extreme diarrhea to help you feel that you are apart of something special. I've never heard anything this intense in my life. Next the graphic's. You can tell in 1982 these graphics was pushing the 2600 to its limit. The way they used 4 colors and the Forrest level. Leave me speechless. You can tell the amount of love that went into the art work. Last the gameplay. The use of e.t. is flawless. They have managed to make a complex system so simple. How you use e.t.'s neck is wonderful. You can't duplicate this on next gen...xbox one and ps4 im looking at you. All in all this is the most underrated game is history of gaming. The love and jerry curl juice that was used make this game is legendary. @_@......
Not anymore, Microsoft have dug them up for their documentary later on in the year they are doing on how the video games industry has changed since it started. It is part of their exclusive TV shows being released on the Xbox One.
