This video is an inside look at the features of our unique, custom designed and built transaxle to break 500 mph with a piston engine, wheel driven car.
The wife broke in my phone snooping and found my Dragy data runs I did roll racing. She completely lost her mind seeing 216mph so I'm going to make her watch this video to prove my point THAT SHE'S COMPLETELY OVER REACTING! Maybe I'll get to sleep in the bed again tonight because the couch sucks. Thanks for sharing👍
@@bryanst.martin7134 statistically we are all idiots as a sex, some of us (not me) have made it to 200 all of would if we got the chance 😂 tell me I’m lying !!!
Wow. I almost didn't click on this because it only had 7k views. Boy am I glad I did. It almost feels wrong to be allowed to listen to someone so knowledgeable and experienced. SO COOL
To be honest, I wanted to make this first video as I did it to separate us from the others. I tried to not repeat myself and I made sure I didn’t use a single photo over and over. I wanted to show more, but at the same time I didn’t want to show everyone how to do it without me! and I had to limit the length too. I appreciate the positive comment. You are the audience I was after. cW
@@TractionProducts Consider me a happy customer. I just graduated with Aero Engineering and hope to have a long career of challenging and rewarding work like this ahead. I always admire what I think is the real deal in terms of design and execution.
Amen! Anyone who has touched a race car knows a lot of these guys are 100% full of shit - pardon me, I let the intrusive thoughts type for a second - They're sound in "theory" but lack practical application of theory to reality. Beware of whiteboards and wikipedia kids. You can't google your way in to a winning race car.
It's awesome to hear from a real deal engineer that's involved in some of the most innovative speed, and power vehicles of this time. What a privilege to get some insight on what your working on. Thank you so much for sharing your work I'm sure some nasa engineer would be impressed with that piece!
This is wild in so many ways. The “making of” or “behind the scenes” or however you want to name it - unreal seeing all the engineering and design elements behind this. I understood maybe 10% of this but felt like I was watching a genius in their natural element just go to town.
I was so enthralled by your engineering savvy and your fabrication skills-when I was a teenager I used dismantle standard transmissions and reassemble them as a challenge; the only technical manuals readily available then to a kid of 14 was HOTROD magazine. So you have put a smile on my 73 year old face- thank you and good luck on your next 50 years of high tech adventure!
Hey Chris excited to see what kind of videos you will be making, also wanted to say that it was a pleasure working with you as a member of UCSDs FSAE team; you and your family’s parts and designs are pretty fabulous
REALLY COOL STUFF!!! I almost ignored it because of the fact that it was being pushed at me [by the YT pusher] but finally after so many days, I went ahead and watched it and now I'm subscribed!
I love stuff like this where it’s SO genius, you can show and explain a lot not worried that someone will try and steal the idea. Whereas other things are simpler and they don’t want to get into the weeds of it because they’re protective of their proprietary work. This is great stuff 👍🏻
Brilliant engineering from a storied motorsports supplier! Please do a deep dive on all the old trans axles from your past! Wishing you the best luck on the record attempt
Heck ya man always been fascinated by land speed stuff. Nvr been but have known alot of men who have and herad many a story's and seen many dusty speed cars in garages and shops. Cant wait to see more!!!
Participating in Land Speed racing since 1975 I applaud your efforts. There are very few who have the ability to design the parts to try and accomplish 500 mph using a single engine. Thank you for letting us see and share this trans/differential unit.
Its absolutely amazing what mechanical marvels can be made these days thanks to multiple axis CNC machines and 3D printers that can make metal parts. Combined with brilliant minds like these and others around the World, we are in for some exciting times of innovation.
Great video what a amazing piece of engineering Weismann has made so many cool transmissions over the years. Pretty much the go to when you need to handle insane amounts of power and complex engineering. They also made the Trans for the original Mclaren F1.
Nice Rick Huseman shirt. Please make more videos. Your parts are amazing and your family's contribution to upper-level motorsports incredible. Thank you for making this video.
Thank You very much. Super impressive undertaking, especially for a one off vehicle. It is always a shocker to see how much work goes into an all out program.
Damn! Thanks for sharing this, that Weismann Transaxle is a masterpiece of automotive engineering. Great in-depth knowledge in this video, some of it mind-blowing in the components and function of the operation.
Knowing guys are out there doing things like this inspires me to keep working towards machine work so I can make my own drivetrains some day, love from a guy with some 'fast' bikes :)
Thank you , how brilliant are these guys and galls no doubt.Would love to have walked into a work shop as a youngster and had the oppertunity to work with these kind of peoples . Again thank you Sensational
I first heard about Weismann when my idol drove an F1 car using their transmission. I used to go on your site and look at all the electric products you offered. I once had a plan to make an electric vehicle back in 2000, but it didn't work out. It was going to have a Weismann transmission for sure. When a company makes a product that gets banned, you know they are the best at what they do. One day I might reach out to see if you can add your legendary touch to a different product.
I would love to know much more about the Weismann name. The history and application of engineering always has great stories to be told from different points of view. I'm looking forward to more content.
@woopyass The grand plan is to reveal our history, the good and the bad. There is just so much to cover. I am not sure where and how to start, but I am working on it in my head. Stay tuned, we will post more videos. Thank you for leaving a comment.
Beautifully engineered machinery! It is always a special experience to hear the details directly from the designer. They can show details that most wouldn't even notice, but if those features were left out, they would surely miss them. I was wondering what CAD system was shown during the presentation 😅
I wondered what the shiny boom box "transmission" was when I clicked. Awesome bit of engineering. Full power shifting, at 450 mph ? I'd say this is understated genius level goodies.
My goodness, so pleased this popped up in front of me. You just had me fully mesmerised for 20 mins. Had to subscribe and hope to see more of such stuff. The car at end ,8 speed, what an absolute beautiful rendition of classic engine and gear change. Similar to slightly older leman cars. Will save for multiple listernings, if I can work out to do that. Thank you
Weismann is a name for me that is linked with great gearboxes and gearbox developments in Formula 1 over many years. After accidentally coming across this video just now, I knew I absolutely had to watch it. I thoroughly enjoyed the video and the narrative explaining the design. I would love to see a follow up video in the future maybe going into a bit more depth on the actual gear change mechanisms or anything else you would care to share. Good luck with the project. It would be great to see a piston engine, wheel driven car break the record you're trying to achieve.
That was awesome man the way you describe everything and showed everything. Such a nice dedication to your parents right on man that was beautiful. What a beautiful piece of machinery good to put in a vehicle you almost wanna mount it and talk about it. I’ll give you thumbs up for that one, buddy.
Absolutely awesome! Thank for sharing the transmission drawing - I'll drop into Fusion 360 now [;^) Really looking forward to seeing your runs down under. I've subscribed, so now you are required to post the >555mph in-car GoPro runs. Seriously, though, GO GET 'EM! I just watched the record setting run at El Mirage Dry Lake Bed by Pete Aardema and Kevin Braun in their homemade, naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces an astounding 920 horsepower.
I was deathly afraid of guys like you, but in the end, as long as you tell others where you learned it from, I am happy to educate. More videos are in the mental works, but they might not appear here. I will do a follow up video, one way or the other. Thank you for the excellent comment on our video.
@@TractionProducts My F360 comment was a joke (the drawing is as clear as mud to me). And not required to post anything at all, but is very much appreciated. I just love seeing true subject matter experts share their knowledge. I fear we are losing the desire to turn wrenches and innovate. I know the Weismann name and love everything racing (I grew up in Bakersfield enjoyed the Mears Gang years - Indy/off-road). The shifter design is very cool and of course the gearbox and transaxles. Looks like Reg Cook has been in the game a long time. Looking forward to more videos - take your time!! Cheers and Godspeed
I’ve been out to the salt flats a few times. My boss, Jerry Hathaway, owned a shop called “SM World” that specialized in Classic Citroëns, namely the SM. He had a modified one with a twin turbo engine, fastest one in the world. Going over 200mph on such an alien landscape makes you feel like you’re in some sort of Star Wars movie.
