Huey Lewis & The News should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame...They deserve it.

John, sorry I missed this. I think Bill Gibson never gets props for his solid chops, bluesy/jazzy/rock style, and contribution to music! His background vocals go unnoticed too! He is also just a solid person and managed to have a family and be a rockstar. He is really an inspiration for me. Really appreciate the interview! Love it!

just started playing -- self learning -- on elec drums. I was a huge news fan through the years and loved Bills playing. Clean and hard. thx for this video.

"Do You Believe in Love?" is maybe the greatest pop rock song ever recorded and that ride on the chorus, just the right amount of ping to lift those harmonies through the stratosphere. Paistes are nice but only Zildjians can hit that sweet spot, IMHO, especially recorded analog. Sounds like a fresh, sunny spring day. Love these interviews with guys like Bill and Stan, Thanks!

Guys like Billy Gibson, Martin Chambers, Stan Lynch, etc. were some drummers I had liked as a teenager in the mid 80’s. Drums and music were new to be and these drummers played on great hit songs of the day by working bands that all had great musicians. They had a powerful, interesting yet accessible style.

Thank you for sharing this! Bill will always be my favorite drummer ever, and it is so nice to see him doing well, and chatting and sharing stories with obviously such a good friend. Really nice.

Enjoying this very much thank you. Checking out I want a new drug for the purple haze ending. How many hits have a long gtr solo and then a sax solo and then another gtr solo. I don’t hear it though. My parents freaked when they saw the title I Want a New Drug on my cherished 45. They didn’t bother to listen to the Lyrics or listen to me. Hahahaha that’s another time for sure Cheers.

OMG! I didn't even recognize Bill Gibson!

Maybe I'm a little late, but I have a question about a fill that Bill played in the video "Huey Lewis & The News Four Chords & Several Years Ago Live 1994" at 6:19 of "Heart of Rock & Roll". Is that: R/L Kick R/L Kick Kick Kick ? Is this played with just one bass drum pedal? Or a double pedal? Did that already exist in 1994? ;-) I'm a big HLN fan and Bill is one of my favorite drummers. He plays Beat#1 so terrific.

Bill is one of the top 5 versatile pocket players who can play perfectly for the song - making a good song fantastic. Up there with Steve Ferrone and Jeff Porcaro. Bill’s Dad accurately described Bill as the best drummer in the world!
