Well, it's another couple days working on this old 70' Hatteras.
Javier came by to help me see if the tender is worth saving and actually got it started, so it's looking good to refurb this one.
And the AC Saga continues as the AC pumps didn't work so well in their new home under the VIP cabin floor. Mike had left for a 2 week trip on another Hat that he captains and Stan was laid up from a surgery, so after 5 days of no AC, I grew a pair and decided I was going to move the pumps myself. It was not pretty, but I did get them moved!
And, I forgot to mention that the house where I docked sold and the new owner evicted me immediately, so I was looking for a slip. It was an eye opening experience as the costs have gone up again!

Not gonna lie. That open flame from the lighter right after he’d changed the fuel filter / separator got my attention.
@jameslobosdelmar
You guys are dangerous. Gas fumes in an enclosed area and a simple spark could've caused a explosion and fire. If that dingy caught fire i'd doubt you'd be able to put it out quickly. Good way to lose your whole boat. Did you have a fire extinguisher standing by? I know you are learning as you go but pulling off water lines at night from the AC system (which it is clear you don't fully understand) is an equally bad idea, great way to flood the boat. Please get some qualified help and focus on doing things safely over putting out content, Goodluck from 2x Hatteras owner

Hang in there Captain.......you'll be an expert at everything marine someday soon.😊

The Heat Gun is SLIGHTLY more powerful than the .Blow Dryers' we grew up with/ Nothing to be afraid of.
@brianloriaux5837
I don’t believe I’d let him work on my boat kind of a hack
@paulkelly4731
Filling the fuel filter prior to install will make starting go easier.
@joelmayne7376
I've worked on boats like yours on and off most of my life. Love watching you learn as you go, your developing skills that will come in handy once your off the dock. Wish i lived closer to come give you some help. keep up the good work.
@marki2659
Love your videos. Kind of reminds me when I first got into boating. You'll look back one day and laugh. Just remember that it's all about the journey. And keep that positive attitude!

OMG what a huge project you're undertaking! Hatteras yachts from the 70s and 80s are some of the best built production yachts ever produced but those big motor yachts have a lot of systems!
@onefixitman
Do not throw away any life preserver. As bad as it looks it can save someone and if you have it then it will cost nothing to replace it. Coast guard is only counting them. They do not care if they are pretty.
@henrywright2230
Hi I love watching what your doing to keep this boat going it’s a beautiful boat there’s a guy with a RU-vid channel called into deep
@brianloriaux5837
Wish I lived closer. I always like a challenge. I restore classic cars and hot rods. I’ve rebuilt travel trailers.
@user-hg1pv2so7d
I enjoy your videos. I have a 1986 72 foot Hatteras CMY. There is nothing I have not rebuilt or reengineered over the last many years. Don’t get discouraged it seems overwhelming sometimes.
@greggilbert9403
Started watching this on TV then got my iPad out so I can comment! Get rid of this Cavier guy. His work is half-assed! Plz!
@CaptianKaos
Good video.
@CarriJ
Backwards or not, think how much you learned from this. Kudos for trying!
@onefixitman
The yellow stuff he was using to solder is called flux. If you put just a small amount of flux on the wire before soldering it will wick the solder in much easier. You can also search youtube for the use of flux when soldering. Things you need for wire soldering...63/37 rosin core solder wire, soldering flux, wire strippers, a good soldering iron and a good selection of different sizes of heat shrink. The 63/37 is the ratio of tin to lead. it melts at 361 degrees F. The rosin core has flux in it and is much easier to work with. Having soldering flux is also good if you want to solder copper pipe joints. You should not have any copper pipes on the boat. Good video. Keep pushing to get everything ready.

I'm free and single lol I miss fla I'm ready to come back and I'm retired 😂
@ducatiparts966
$6500/month for a 70ft boat where you are in Florida that seems pretty reasonable. How much do you think you will be able to get dockage for, and I know dockage is hard to come by especially once you get over 30-40ft.
