In my opinion, there is a demand for a simple difficulty scale for a medium-sized and full adventure (that does not consider the level of the rider or tyres). I started and got injured so I'm not getting close to D4 in the near future...
Better to put in the info on the app than a sign post. I see Cali uses hard mounted posts and they'd be ly'in' some of the time without those extra layers.
Your rating system is spot on. I’m a D2-D3 on a middleweight adventure bike. Might sneak up to D4 on my CRF450RL. At a point in my riding career where pushing the limits not a priority; focusing on the enjoyment of being in the backcountry. Great info and examples👍
Dude that was SO useful! "Novice-intermediate-expert" categories are so subjective they are useless. After 3 years of riding I don't feel like a Novice, but I'm not quite intermediate either. I now realise I'm a D1, D2, and easier short section D3 rider, and I'm ok with that. Keep on keeping on cause I love the content!
