Recording 7 from the inaugural E3G State of Climate Politics Forum, held on the 25th June 2024 as part of London Climate Action Week.
Fireside Chat: Meeting the Climate Imperative in Multi-Polar World
Madhura Joshi, Senior Associate, India Energy Transition, E3G
Ana Toni, National Secretary for Climate Change, Brazil
Kevin Magron, Special Advisor on Climate Action, Ministry for Europe & Foreign Affairs, France
Achieving the 1.5-degree climate goal requires global sector transformation within two decades, demanding unprecedented cooperation amidst rising geopolitical tensions and complex multipolar politics. A new diplomatic approach promoting equity, prosperity, and justice is needed. Clean transition partnerships between countries can help support a global, just transition away from fossil fuels and help developing countries adapt to climate change, whilst increasing geoeconomic resilience and competitiveness in the clean economy for developed nations. These partnerships can also strengthen international relationships, maintaining influence and viability in a multipolar world
E3G is an independent climate change think tank with a global outlook. We work on the frontier of the climate landscape tackling the barriers and advancing the solutions to a safe climate.
Our goal is to translate climate politics, economics and policies into action.
