Here's part of the installation is the reverse of removal that is always left out: Very important step if you don't want to take everything off again: Both Bentley and TIS list window adjustment as the last step in replacement of the sedan front window regulators, but none of the DIY articles include it. It's incredibly simple; just before you begin replacing the vapor barrier, loosen the two nuts securing the rear rail of the window regulator. Using the window switch, lower the window all the way into the door. This step apparently "sets" the proper position of that rear rail in its slotted holes. Re-torque the nuts to spec, and you're done.
Thanks for the video guys. Followed it and was able to replace my brother's regulator that had managed to tangle one of its wires into the motor unit. Appreciate how thorough you were with all the precautions. We were quoted $300-$600 from various shops and did it for $22.40 by buying a brand new part here in town. my cable has also tangled itself into the motor. how did you fix it? just take everything apart and then reattach the cable to the regulator with zip ties?
+Preston Ashton If you look at the part that isn't fast forwarded, it's pretty self explanatory where the zipties go. I was trying to keep the video as short as possible.
Look at the "part" that isn't fast forwarded?..like the whole video? It is Not self explanatory at all (purpose of the video should be to explain it) there's not even a shot that shows where you specifically used the zip ties
Crazy easy to see where the zip ties go when you get in there... Two metal beads on the cable that runs the window up and down. Plastic clip which is broken on the slider. You put the metal beads back into the plastic clip and zip tie it. You then put the whole thing back together and drive around till the zip ties fail and repeat all that work. OR you buy a regulator fix which is a one piece delrin for less than 20 bucks which will not fail again.

Great DIY. What if the window doesnt' go up all the way correctly? Mine seems a bit tilted off. I need to use my hands to adjust it in the right position. Maybe the track is worn out?
Its OK but not for long time,my broke again after 5-6 monts and now replace with new but all plastic ,dont look very strong but price is low 7lv in BG around 4$ I'll see how long it will bring :):):)
my window regulator cables are ripped so I ordered a new regulator... and i connected my battery with removed airbag... so what should I expect from that airbag now?
+Airidas Somka from what I understand, if the light is on and there is a fault code being thrown, the airbags wont deploy. If the light is on because there was a fault but the fault has been cleared, the airbags should, heavy emphasis on the should, deploy.
I'm assuming it's the same for the rear windows right.both of my windows are closed.they wont go down i hear the motor working and this nasty ass crumbling noise.would the zip tie method would work or should I buy a new regulator
DOWN4WAR If you're hearing crumbling, it's probably the plastic inside the bottom part of the regulator where the motor connects, so you're probably going to need new ones. The process will be pretty much the same, the parts for the rear are different from the front and the left and right are unique, so make sure you get the right ones.
They take some of the stress off the plastic piece that the cable rides in. Over time without them the plastic gets brittle and breaks, which is why most people would be replacing the regulator.
I am on my 17th broken window regulator on my 2003 325i. Bmw should fix these for free. Sick of this. Every window regulator has failed. I too wish you would have slowed the video to regular speed to show the mos critical part. Not clear what really occurred or how. I am going to fix the rear window in the up posotion, hold in in place with PVC pipe and unplug the motor for good. Sick of this.
What the point of replacing parts that is poor quality and will break again Save your money Very surprise no recall would be bad for customers loyalty Will not buy bmw again???
