I have followed you, almost since day one. I was amazed that George is 13yrs old. For sometime I have had Perseverance as a possible project on my list to reproduce in 3d, and as a full working video game asset. I have just finished PS Waverley, primarily to make large scale prints., in various liveries over the decades. These things take lots of time and research when no plans are available, but you learn many tricks at making very accurate full scale models. Ideal for Winter.
I would love to have a 3D asset of Perseverance, though probably to 3D print… would love to see her in a game too though! Narrowboat Mayhem is the name I’ve had for a game I’ll never make for years! M
I found this very interesting as I don't know the waterways in that area very well. Loved the view of The Stump from the river. Shorter videos are definitely better, for me anyway, it's sometimes difficult to find the time to watch a long one.
I like the new videos. If you would ask me, I would prefer the shorter videos multiple times per week, as it is easier for me to find a quarter of an hour than half an hour or longer.
Hello chaps, been following for a few years. I have my boat on the tidal side at Surfleet. My boat still has the scars of the last narrow boat I saw pass through there, totally out of control. though I love the narrow boat thing. There are some places they are not really appropriate, methinks. Carry on the good work.
@@MinimalList I didn't say that. The tidal current up the Welland is very strong at times, and can be very dangerous to the unwary. I think a narrow boat is not suitable for these waters. I would hate to try to turn into the Glen with an 8mtr plus tide behind me, tricky enough in a sea boat with a powerful engine. please get some guidance if anybody wants to try it.
@@ROMFT We got some guidance from a professional pilot who has been travelling those waters for decades and who as seen me at the tiller, and he said I could do it on my own with no trouble. It really depends on the tide, the weather and the skills of the person navigating, not on the type of boat. The Welland and the Glen have been navigated by boats with no engines for decades.
@@MinimalList by people who know what they are doing!! my concern is the unwary and foolish. on the occasion I'm referring to. a narrow boat with a dead engine, was being towed by another narrow boat. they lost way and the tide pulled them all over the place, damaging boats. In the main stream, on the Welland, it could have been a disaster. Didn't you run out of diesel on your last trip across?
@@ROMFT We have never run out of diesel. On the trip up the Ouse from King's Lynn the boat with us lost power, briefly, and on the Ribble Link we helped another boat that had overheated, but we've never had such issues ourselves. Regardless, in neither of those cases, or in the one you describe, did the problem have anything whatsoever to do with the boat being a narrowboat. The same problems could occur on the same river with any boat; there is nothing about a narrowboat that makes it inherently more or less suitable than any other vessel type to travel on rivers like the Welland or the Glen, and nothing about a being on a narrowboat that automatically makes someone unwary and foolish, any more than being on a sailboat or motor cruiser automatically makes someone a competent sailor. A little bit of research and prep and neither of those rivers is any more challenging in any way than the numerous other tidal rivers we've taken Persey on, without issues. M
A groan for the title, and a thumbs up for the vlog. So ten times up the stump, how many steps was that in total, and the nagging question of - why? Take care you three.
Groan is understandable! Since losing weight michael has extra energy to spend. He is actually working on a video to explain it properly which should be out in a few weeks.
@@MinimalList I am jealous of Michaels weight loss, it's high time (overtime really) that I lose at least 1/4 of my actual weight, it was dead easy to gain weight but very hard to lose some (at 75 and in pretty bad shape).
@@MinimalList I bought one for my son in law/ a star wars fan and Itrll him about you all the time you are so alike. we live in Maine and Im in love with England and all narrowboats
Love watching the three of you and so glad you are back to vlogging and I will watch whatever you put out - I have no preference as long as you guys are there ☺️ Have a wonderful weekend 🥰
I was watching this while my wife was working- and she heard M say ‘Santa Monica’. This is her home town. So she says ‘WHERE are they?’ I was tempted to say Venice CA- but I refrained.
I so enjoy your videos. I prefer the longer ones but if the majority goes with the shorter either way it a joy. I noticed early on you were in a smaller craft, when in smaller craft beware ninja attack swans ... LOL George looked like he was in canine heaven at the beach. Have blessed day where ever you are.
New boat, my heart was pumping.... down the river without a paddle. Sorry, grasping for witty replies. Nice video length. lately some Vloggers are getting into the 45 minutes to an hour and a half length. They have good content, but then have to find that much time to watch.
Been missing you guy's, so selected thew see every video bell. Lets face it who would not like George. Sorry gut's, dog lover. Of course we love you guy's too.
Great video, mind you weather looks good and you've been on our patch. Witham looked clear and free of the green weed floating on surface . You must hold the record for climbing the stump 10 times in 2 hrs. All the best.
We do have a new boat though so its not an incorrect title. I do know what you are saying though, some people will assume that its a new Narrowboat. Unfortunately that is just the way RU-vid works and it was too good a title not to use. My least favourite part of making videos is thinking of a title.
@@MinimalList You should take a leaf out of David John's channel, Cruising the Cut. His titles are usually fairly inventive, but rarely misleading. Confusing, yes.
@@agfbuilding We are going off information from the waterway authorities and the pilot who took us across the Wash and who has taken boats through the Fulney Lock and Surfleet Sluice. I have linked below the current info from the EA, Anglian Waterways and the IWA. The IWA link shows photographs of Narrowboats on the River Welland as does the Anglian waterways link. www.visitanglianwaterways.org/welland-and-glen-navigations www.gov.uk/guidance/rivers-welland-and-glen-locks-and-facilities#public-slipways waterways.org.uk/waterways/using-the-waterways/activities/spalding-or-crowland Spalding was once a busy port and it has a fascinating history as a navigation. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Welland Water levels are low this year but even so we have a very shallow draft and would have been fine if the lock was in operation.
@@MinimalList definitely enjoying!! I'm in So Calif and there's a terrible heat wave!! I don't like hot weather! I get heat-sick stomach...in 2005 it was east wind in Nov and it w 105* at the Ventura Pier!! usually in the low 60's* phew. Have fun And just love seeing you guys!!
Great vlog as usual and I love your title, not click bait to me. You do have a new boat for Perseverance or the channel whichever way you look at it 😁😁but then I saw it on other social media first. 🙏🩷
