Great repair and video. It is helpful. How do I remove the subframe? Is it difficult?
@maxsam201
@maxsam201 2 года назад
I wouldn't call it difficult, just time-consuming. Disconnect drive shaft, parking cables, 2 brake hoses, remove exhaust, remove 4 bolts holding it to the chassis.

I guess some oil or grease on the bushings would help a lot to slide it in

I didn't want to have any grease/lubricant on these, the idea was to have them as solid as possible, Loctite retaining fluid would be ideal or even an overkill, but that would require a press to do installation.

Is there a difference in the way the car drives? I mean less vibrations, less noise when you hit bumps? Thanks
@maxsam201
@maxsam201 2 года назад
I guess the best way to describe the difference would be by saying the rear of the car feels really tight now. That feel of something moving separately / floaty feel of rear - is gone. I didn't have any noises or vibrations prior to doing this, but didn't notice any increase as far as noises go.

@@maxsam201 thanks for the video!!! Question: when you hit bumps is the impact hard feeling? Or can you tell that the Collison is obsorded by the new bushings? Thanks again.
@maxsam201
@maxsam201 2 года назад
@@mofopopo437 solid bushings don't absorb anything, by definition. OEM rubber bushings do, these don't. Shocks and springs mainly transfer road profile and produce that feel of what you call "impact".

Where did you get the bushing tool?

Internet perhaps? Wrong question, really. But here is the answer to the right question - BMW Rear Suspension Subframe Bushing Tool Set E46 - 3 series and E85 - Z4.
