It’s official. After playing it since I was 7 (I’m 28 now), I’m done w the sims. With a game as wealthy as the sims, it’s gross to think they’d even consider intentional mishaps/bugs, yet very believable with EAs track record

I think that’s a huge reach from “we don’t want repeated fights to all feel the same so we change up the challenge level” and introducing bugs on purpose. A bug is not a challenge. Introducing bugs on purpose isn’t “some missions are harder than others” it would be “some missions crash your computer or have impossible objectives”
Totally agree. As someone who plays games fps games and the sims, no one is playing the sims for a challenge like bugs, and even though EA sucks, they aren't stupid. they know what audience is buying what. they are just lazy and don't care to fix issues because people continue buying sims content.

this weirdly reminds me of something i saw on a VH1 show decades ago, where singer Bobby Brown said something like, "It doesn't matter what people say about you, as long as they're still talking about you. It's when people stop talking about you, that's when your popularity goes down." I remembered that b/c it was so telling of a lot of industries where corporate success is popularity based, and I think it applies to EA. I agree with you, I think they add bugs, glitches, and fail on gameplay content on purpose. They're creating drama, as long as we're still talking about them and making CC/Mods Sims 4 is still popular and relevant.
We the consumers have so much power the key word is “money” for ea so if we the consumers were to stop buying anything else from ea or giving the sims money for packs they will realize a lot of sales have gone down but only if everyone were on the same page to go through with it, it would be interesting to see like a umm boycott sort of thing

I love you but this is a reach 😭😭 That's not what Apex is talking about. Giving players a challenge and incentive to keep playing is a standard game development strategy -- and it is not comparable to Sims 4 having bugs and glitches. What IS comparable is in the Sims 3 when a meteor could randomly kill your sim, or you'd move into a house and its flooded and everything is broken or a burglar breaks in and steals your stuff. It's the theory that a game shouldn't be too easy, or else you'll stop playing. In fact -- the sims 4 has a distinct LACK of this strategy, which is what renders it so boring to play. The Sims 4 has bugs and glitches because they rush development in pursuit of $$$
The sims 4 isn't boring because it doesn't have challenges, it's boring because the bugs takes people out of the emersion and they keep updating the game with stupid stuff that means nothing to most people along with a lot of packs and kits with corny content.

Interesting theory I hadn't heard before. I'd still mostly blame toxically positive brand loyalty, delivering the bare minimum because they know suckers will pay and modders will make up the difference. But these things do go in cycles (Wedding/Werewolves/High School), and some kind of perverse marketing scheme isn't out of the question. It's at least more plausible than one of the biggest publishers on earth getting it wrong so consistently on accident.
I think it's an interesting link but both companies are separate, Maxis (the Sims) and Respawn (Apex) are the ones who developed while EA published. The type of mechanics of the SBMM games being implemented to periodically reward you with highs and lows, is way to keep it being fun. I can see how Maxis and by extension EA are relying on the same psychology to keep consumers in bondage in a predatory way. Imagine if you've spent $1000+ on a video game, you are going to keep playing even if to justify the cost.
@@thesimyin When sims go in the shower or during a woohoo the male ones for a lot of people sometimes wear these fancy looking pumps or stilettos. I've only ever seen it on male young adult and adult sims, the only foot related glitch I've seen on females is their feet missing.
I don't think the bugs are actually on purpose. I think a lot of people who were involved with the previous sims games left, sims 4 didn't have a clear vision when it was being made (pre-release), and the result is a game that lacks direction made by people who are actually incompetent. Sure they might be rushed to get things to release by EA but for real... There are so many bugs and glitches in sims 4 it's insane. Especially for a game with a total cost of over $1000! At that price it should be a perfect, polished, and deeply engaging experience. But it's none of those things.
Nobody left, they left a few years after the sims 4. The sims 4 is a result of them trying to make another sims related game and failing then using salvaged parts from the failure to make this busted game that we all "o't to be thankful for". This game is the result of SimCity.

I was done the moment i realized the community only waves pom poms enabling everything EA does, so why would they change? A game is only as good as the fans who play it, and the fans of this game sucks.
Lol in this is why I don’t buy packs at full price anymore. I don’t preorder anymore either, especially after the Cyberpunk launch. The last pack I got on day one was the wedding disaster & I even waited a week out to play it & my one & only wedding was a mess lol. I wasn’t to upset as I don’t play with married sims or couples but I definitely won’t use that pack for weddings, but the world is beautiful. I’m just not surprised, I have come to the understanding that it’s a cash grab game. I play NBA2K as well & both games are the most expensive gaming community I’m apart of.
This is a reach. Apex is like your cute work husband. He's just tryna keep things fun and interesting so you don't get bored while you're there. Sims 4 is your narcissistic boyfriend, making you emotionally and mentally exhausted so you're happy for that In and Out car date and accept that new, way less interesting side kit...I mean sidepiece.
Well it has been said that The Sims 4 basegame when it was first created had a million bugs and instead of fixing it they just went to create expansion packs and game packs and keep adding instead of fixing the original issue
My sims keep resetting after certain social actions, for example fights, at the end of the fight they just t-pose and stop completely, also happens when sims show each other funny videos, I can’t even get vampires to drink from wrists anymore. Also to mention that sometimes everyone gets reset at once.
The blame is to those who keep buying. If someone sells me a tasty apple, then a rotten, then a tasty one and the same cycle again and again… it’s my fault that I don’t find another fruit to eat or merchant to buy from. Ok, it’s unethical to exploit me for money but if for them is a win, they’ll keep doing it. The question is, what will I do? Sorta reminds me of a toxic relationship I had
I see it as, there are no other fruit stands with pineapples, just 1 and that's the only one that exists that sells that fruit. It used to be under another management that made us all become attracted to pineapples but now it got bought out. Other stands are around but they sell a variety of fruits but only that 1 stand sells pineapples..... All kinds of people lineup for the pineapples as the vender stands there for minutes at a time not doing anything, some pineapples have bugs in them, some are rotten, some are unripe and others are too small. Some people in the group starts to complain about the quality of the fruit only to have others yell at them telling them to be thankful that they even sell us pineapples to begin with, that because they occasionally put glittery stickers for free on the pineapples, that it makes up for the fruit's less than great quality, that we should be thankful we get those stickers and many of the other things the fruit vender bribes us with that has nothing to do with selling decent pineapples.... So we're here, the people who want pineapples, have to deal with a monopoly fruit stand who hands rotten pineapples to us while others patronizingly lecturing us to be grateful for it knowing full well that's the only fruit stand we have while trying to silence us from asking for change in a positive direction because there are no other options so why should we deal with it, and what the heck is there to be thankful for? We know we can just seek out more fruits, but we want pineapples.
I've said what that Apex Legends developer said for awhile. It's especially noticeable on Overwatch and another mobile game i play on occasion. They sandbag you and he just admitted to it. These competitive shooters will sandbag ya. Vindication at last.
Im so tired of my broken game … it’s unplayable somehow. The game sometime wont be able to save, the game sometime stucks at a loading screen when my sims go to work, the save didnt really save even tho I could get to the main menu… my sims also took almost their 20minutes to be able to do what i command… its so annoying. And Im only playing base game, with few mods and some CC. I tried removing it and still dont fix my game =_= Im so done … Was planning to get Get Together, now i dont think that would ever save my game zzz
I don't exactly think Maxis is putting in bugs to break Sims 4 on purpose. I think it's a lack of hiring more programmers, testers, etc etc to test the game before release. Also the last few packs have been buggy/broken in some kind of way beyond that of older packs which they eventually fixed. I think what we are currently experiencing is Maxis deadlines with or without working material. Considering there are so many bugs that are all completely different across every player's game, Maxis is probably having a hard time figuring out where the spaghetti code is clashing to cause all these issues so they can fix them.
Also, currently in the programming world, every company is taking a major hit with programers that don't even know how to code. (This could be happening to Maxis.) Lack of employees + deadlines = broken packs and bugs
Sorry it's a little reaching for me. I don't see Sims 4 gameplay being that sophisticated in the AI like how they explained in Apex Legends. I can see Sims 2 or 3 do something like this, like throw you a bone sometimes (random opportunities, chance cards or a townie you want to be friends), then pull out a random fire or things break down to mess your Sims lives. That makes a game that is lively. As for EA purposely leaving glitches and making a joke out of it? Now that is something we can look into. Sims 4 inside joke is not even funny in the slightest, perhaps it is the cynical side of me saying, but it is just not the same brand of humor compared to Sims 1 or 2 days.
That's my dilemma. Although in the past my PCs always sucked and the sims always lagged, i tolerated the annoyance because the games back then were actually good and worth waiting 5-10 minutes with each loading screen. I hate a lot of things about the sims 4 and even the thought of just dealing with a lot of my dislikes and playing it sounds like hell..... So i don't like the game as is much and only care about the graphics, the game is hella buggy, most packs and updates means literal nothing to me and are repeated content from the past sims games only done in a bad way, but now i also have to deal with the game getting worst over stuff i didn't install into my game?! I only like the idea of the sims 4 but there's nothing in that game for me.

I don't think so... For Apex Legends, it's a programming, a code, a devellopement choice, so the game doesn't get boring for the good players and give them difficulties. The game can get a long life on the market. For the sims, 1. it would imply putting bugs in your own products, so damaging your own products BY CHOICE (which is pretty much illegal. Currently, they're selling packs they know are broken, but if they are breaking them themselves before selling them, it's illegal in some countries and EA would be in trouble) 2. The Sims would still be entertaining if the game works correctly. Sims 1, 2 and 3 were rewarding for EA and weren't walking bugs. People still do content for the Sims 3 and plays the Sims 3! They would have even better number if the Sims 4 wasn't a broken mess, but like it was said some times ago, the sims franchise is very lucrative rn, so they prefer to keep the money and don't pay for fixing the game. And a game not saving, crashing randomly, and ect... It's not what make people wants to play your game more. The only reason EA is making money from the Sims 4 is because the Sims franchise have taken care of its community for decades... Until now... It would be another game where the community wasn't so important, the game would be dead by now.
It’s giving EA trying to be Apple and purposely break the game which doesn’t make sense….🥴When Apple kept doing the updates that would make the older iPhones slower they were trying to get people to buy the new ones. Idk the purpose EA putting new bugs with their updates UNLESS they’re trying to trick the consumers to think that buying the new game/expansion packs will fix the game….
Their mess ups are too obvious to even not be on purpose especially every time they bring out a new pack it’s always something happening as if they don’t even check for any glitches or mishaps.
I think they do things for better community engagement with The Sims. Not to that degree but it's catered to something that'll work for The Sims. Like community voted packs, those in game concerts the did a year or so back, and scenarios. I personally didn't care for any of it but I'm sure other people did. With EA games I do think there are common themes among them that unless you play or have taken a glimpse into the community you wouldn't know. There's this documentary done by softdrinktv on the fall of EA Sports and I feel like you could insert The Sims or any other EA game in there and feel the exact same way. Great features getting removed, more monetization, a push towards online with seemingly no care about what originally made it great, lack of innovation, feels stuck in a rut, EA needs to do better, but most players won't stop buying regardless. That's The Sims.

Just like they did for sims 3 to force people to buy sims 4 they are forcing people to buy sims 5 by breaking 4. I hope someone sues because paying over 500 for a game so they can break it is like a marketing scam.

I've been reading reviews on the latest Madden release and many of the day one players are experiencing the same type of silence we as Sims players are having. Bugs that existed in past Maddens are still around, PC editions not as thoroughly updated as console, and media reviewers continuing to give EA the benefit of a doubt. It shows that all EA consumers are being taken advantage of by this company.
I mean. I think balancing the team mates you end up on is a known game design trick to control the flow of a game. And it's not new, even freaking Candy Crush does something similar. The game will purposefully get harder if it detects that you're passing levels too easily. And after too many failed attempts, an easy level pops up. That makes you feel strong and want to continue. That's the logic behind these "invisible" mechanics that a lot of games have. The Sims team leaving glitches in the game is just them being sloppy and unprofessional and makes them look bad. Let's play the devil's advocate and say they do that on purpose... I don't see the logic behind that. It just makes your company look like a joke 💀 I just think EA knows they will be making money with the sims anyway because of all the people who will turn a blind eye and keep buying. So of course they can cut some costs and release half-finished packs for 40€. They'll sell anyway.
My game has been broken since the did these updates and the release of the high school pack. I have removed mods and cc and repaired it. Still it's buggy and freezes when I try to do build/buy. At this point I give up.
I spent more in the Sims 4 then I did with Ark, Conan, Minecraft combined, I'm mostly a builder with over 75k downloads. I didn't buy high school after being screwed over by wedding dlc, over the years I didn't know how much I had spent until recently. Ark, Conan and Minecraft gave me more and it didn't cost me a thousand dollars
JUST HIRE THE MODDERS EA. Seriously, I'm a pretty positive lady and I do like to give the benefit of the doubt for the most part, but this is just dumb. At this point just give us the option to roll back updates to whatever point of the game that we were actually content (not happy because that ship sunk a while back). I don't even blame people who pirate the DLC. This is how they treat their paying customers and should show us exactly why the game changers (not all) were doing shady ass things, ofc when the company they promote is rotten to the core. I love the Sims, but EA ain't shit.

Thanks for asking. My opinion is: doing things like manipulating the strength of your team requires extra effort, extra development, extra coding. And this is exactly what ts4 doesn't. My impression is that they come up with ideas and and stop the development as soon as they lose interest. They design slightly more bb/cas than the bare minimum, then reduce it to the minimum and release the surplus as kits and express deliveries. They don't care about the bugs they release, and then come up with a first emergency fix, some leaks, an express delivery and no second fix. So this is why I think that you are wrong: adding bugs on purpose would take too much effort. My theory is that ea will support single player Sims without micro transactions only as long as it's an easy way to make an obscene profit. When this cash cow will be milked dry they will either bring a new sims game with even more profit opportunities, or they will dump the sims like they dumped simcity and proceed to the next ip they can exploit and ruin.
Since the wedding pack (which I didn't get because I saw everyone's gameplay videos of it and it clearly didn't work), I've gone off Sims completely. Every time I play, there's a new glitch or bug that makes the game unplayable.
I'm not surprised about what the dev said tbh. I play Overwatch and those who played in the official league have said it's like gambling. You win a bit, you lose a bit, and it's all calculated to keep us playing. Idk if that's the case with The Sims but I can see a link. Ppl have made Sims glitches memes, which I kinda blame the Game Changers for the normalizing of glitches and bugs. I think if they had actually called out EA and actually threatened to boycott EA, they would have fixed stuff a long time ago.
i cant even play the game right now because my sim toddler cant get top-noth toddler trait when being aged up from toddler to child. i havent been able to play for 2 weeks because of this bug. absolutely garbage how they can go without a fix for weeks.

I think that Modders should be the catapult to boycotting the Sims. They should write a letter to their followers/fans stating that they would no longer carry the Sims 4 on their backs and that their mods will be held back for a while until EA gets its ish together. Maybe then players would stop buying, because the Sims without mods is so boring and buggy without them.
Very good point I’m on console and PC with the sims 4 and since I brought the high school pack my console family and gameplay has been a flop. I haven’t been on console to give high school a tryout because I get on here and see my favorites RU-vidrs telling me what I need to hear and know so I’m like no fix that aging mess because my kids are still aging up fucking up my entire family tree I worked hard to be on great great grandparents and still alive outlive most vampires are so cool but off subject here. I got quite a few packs on PC but I’ve been getting this and that I don’t even have all the cool mods on it just maybe three that I could get to work and my game be frozen I can’t do anything with my toddler and I done moved into a bigger lot and house and the same things happening and I don’t wanna give up on my favorite game but my money they will not get until I see better or hear about it first
EA puts glitches and bugs in The Sims 4 Gallery on purpose. It's infuriating how slow the Gallery has become. The Sims 4 lacks gameplay and is mostly a building and fashion simulator. Breaking the Gallery forces players to use Build Mode and CAS so they don't have to fix the game. All they do is give us kits.
While your theory does sound a little far-fetched, I can't help but agree. I can totally see EA pulling something like that, and they have a record to back your claim up. Also, that would make sense why they're so crazy about modders making money off the game. If people aren't downloading those mods due to them not wanting to pay, the sims team has to work to fix the game. Obviously, they want modders to do all the work for them, and it's utterly ridiculous. Like, I didn't spend over $1000 to rely on a talented individual to fix my game out of the goodness of their heart; I'm paying for EA to do it. EA only talks via money; personally, I think we all need to go on a strike. No one should buy kits, stuff packs, or expansion packs, no matter how good they look. EA is just going to keep doing this if we keep doing that.
respectfully this makes no sense lmao. the developer was stating that the game has to be challenging in order to feel rewarding, and therefore retain players by keeping them engaged. games that are too easy become boring (like the sims 4). bugs aren’t a difficult challenge or give a fulfilling experience. it literally makes the game become unplayable and simmers drop off. the only reason the cycle keeps continuing is because EA exploits the sim’s community addiction. the sims community isn’t too terribly smart with their $$ and isn’t consolidated enough to boycott the franchise. honestly, everyone should just pirate it instead :)
I think that when sales start to drop they half arse a pack and overhype it with a trailer for maximum impact so more people will buy the new pack in disbelief to see for themselves if it's truely as buggy as everyone is claiming. It's a clever marketing strategy and takes less effort than creating lore and gameplay to sell a pack. I fully believe Sims4 is all about profit, so our game enjoyment is irrelevant now. I believe there was a time when The Sims games were about bringing joy to it's fan base, but Sims4 original base game was proof that the game was now only being made for profit. When game starts off with the bar so incredibly low compared to it's predecessors, that should be a big red flag right there. I'm just playing Sims2 right now and I feel happier for it.
they're already doing microtransactions with kits, but it's packaged a bit differently so its not obvious. as for the bugs.. i would like to think that they are not that blind or ignorant, to do it on purpose and not see that it's killing the game. i personally think sims 4 is a very flawed product from the very start, inside out, and it has overstayed it's potential, but still brings them a lot of money so they keep adding onto it and pretending they don't know what's going on.
I’ve seen some people have success pulling all mods and deleting the cache. But not all. And each comment I’ve seen has blamed a different mod. I luckily haven’t had that bug.
I have "can't Sleep" bug with or without mods. I just play with testingcheats on and cheat needs right back up. Could see if UI cheats is updated for HSY update/pack. I just didn't trust putting script mods back in my game.
Honestly I'm so mad at the sims at the moment... all bugs and lagging. Can't even play without CC or mod otherwise the game is so boring and lame. EA are too confident because there no concurrence. Wait until paralives came out. Now they will listen and regrets ! Never I will buy another pack. Can't even go to the prom or do the night activities in Cooperdale. Just make no sense. So upset

Not video related but when I want to buy a vet clinic in sims 4 it tells me to choose which weather I want play so I choose the weather and keeps every time asks me to choose even though I choose already the weather and I end up closing sims and re open it again and same thing happens and I can’t buy the vet clinic so does anyone know what should I do? There’s a bug thread for that on the answers forum. Apparently the first time you load a save that you started before buying Seasons, you need to use the “load game” button instead of the “resume” button or the seasons settings glitch. Sounds like people have been able to fix it by exiting the game then reloading through “load game” - have you tried that?
I can't even be mad about it anymore.. The Sims 4 is a cash grab and its not gonna stop anytime soon.. The bugs, glitches and lack of gameplay benefits EA and the community as a whole. Videos critiquing the game generate views for the youtubers. The CC/Mod creators have a whole community to pander to by fulfilling the simmers' wants and wishes. EA has a large presence on social media since ppl go to Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, etc to vent about the game. Sims players get to purchase packs at a discount everytime there is a major controversy with the game. Everyone in the community benefits from the Sims teams' flaws and corner cutting. EA is greedy but everyone eats from their unethical practices.

Unless the players stop playing it and the content creators stop making videos about the game good, bad or otherwise, nothing is going to change. So its like why are we still complaining?
