I would love for them to dig in and really build out this WRC series. They are in EA now, they just built the base game on UE now, and they have a schedule to release new games yearly. Could be wrong about something here, I didn't research it. A super aggressive damage model would be amazing, and I do hope they push for that. I'm not sure how they get their money on these releases, assuming rig users are only a small amount of needed purchasers (I have no idea though). So it would probably always be an extra thing--and I think that fits well with the culture of clubs and multiplayer sessions where you can choose which damage model you are using. I think it would probably take them a while to accomplish that, and it shouldn't be rushed. And the user base needs to really push for them to develop that, I imagine. I really don't know their mindset on the physics. More realism would be for the best but I don't know if they'll ever do that in this series. I hope so. Totally agree about the UI. I hope to see tons of improvement on that. Cockpit view changes are a must for next title. The gauge change, I didn't think about that due to simhub's existence, but that would be great. I love the woman's voice, big improvement for me there personally. But the other pacenotes points I agree. If they can nail down their development process on that and create things that blow people away that would be awesome. Graphics is such a controversial topic in general in game I think, and I don't know anything about the development for that, so I really don't know. It does appear to have some inconsistencies for me in my game though. It looks okay sometimes, awesome other times, a lacking occasionally. I think this is part of the transition to UE for the team. Not ideal but it hasn't bothered me. Yeah the stages specifically I think are awesome, cars are awesome. And the multiplayer is awesome. That's mainly what I do. I was really happy with the game. Felt like a proper step-up from DR2, and there's plenty to develop from here forward

Glad you mention the no experience in actual rally car, very confusing reviews out there currently, a lot of hard core sim racers bagging on it compared to other games, yet also a number of reviews from people with actual rally experience saying it is pretty close
Don't get me wrong, I have grown up racing on dirt; dirt bikes, sand rails, various cars, fwd, rwd, awd and do/did some local rallycross events and some diy rally in my area, I just have no experience in a top of the line rally car. To me, this game clearly has flaws in the physics department. A good example of this is watching any external replay of any run, and you will see how the cars move in an inorganic manner. Compare this to even previous codemasters rally titles, and you will see this game has almost no body roll and seemingly no inertia. We don't need to be experts in this way because we can look at real-life footage and easily determine this game is bypassing many laws of physics.

@@vedadtursum6341 I thought this exact same thing. I’m completely okay with all that even though I know a lot aren’t, justifiably. As a sim racer and huge rally fan I think the physics, ffb, cars and tracks are a gift. I’d rather have access to this version early than wait another six months for the completely polished version.
Same, I would rather have it early but I think it hurt them. If they would have presented a stronger polished title and waited a bit, it might have frustrated many but they would still end up buying it because I don't think any other rally titles were planned around this time. Or a cheaper price with an "open beta" tag on it to let people know it's not technically the final public version.
This review sums it up nicely. You might need to go down to high settings or may be even lower with some settings to get it fully smooth, just try to get your minfps up 🙃 Edit: Kenya Walking Simulator anyone?
I have tried many combos, I really think it should be possible to get this game smooth on ultra settings for my personal specs but I am willing to make some compromises.
In general, I did everything possible to get rid of the jumping frametime. Unfortunately, at the moment it is not possible to get rid of it 100%. Tomorrow there will be a patch which will be better and there will be another one in mid-December which will improve the game a lot. because for now this game is still missing a lot from the previous part. Dirt Rally 2.0 had a rock-solid frametime, each frame with a delay of 8.4 ms after locking the frames to 118.

good review, overall I think the same. For me, this game is simply a lot of fun because, after all, it's something new. I'm already bored with rbr, I'll take a break from it for 2 years and I'll probably come back in time, but at least you have some distraction
I'm not bored with RBR but it's nice to be part of an active community. By that I mean multiplayer lobbies. In rbr you can do online and such but you never really feel the connection that you get when you are doing the same stage as everyone else at the same time even though it's unrealistically set up and not staggered.

The honest reviewer I trust... ... now that EA is not looking I can say, they have thrown out so much money for advertisement and sponsored so many people at this point that feels insane to me, I trust your review, but it's crasy to me that EA is even sponsoring channels under 100k subs, it's great for you and I'm happy for your channel getting the recognition it deserves, I love your channel, what bothers me is that EA is trying very hard to buy good press for this game that, if anyone talks shit about it, they might be ending a fruitful relationship with the company, it's hard for you guys to choose between being 100% honest with your viewers and build trust in the channel, or to accept the sponsors and shill their products. I'm not saying you did, what I'm saying is that you would be way to hard on the game without the sponsor, you already was very critical and sounded very genuine, which is what I come here to see, keep up the good work, I'm happy for the deserved recognition your channel is gathering!

The ea creator network only allows reviewers to get ahold of games sooner for reviews and they only provided me a copy of the game that I didn't actually use. I am giving the game code away on Sunday. :)
Thanks for the video Mr. T. It is not a finished product and I'm not confident that it will be in the near future. I hope I'm dead wrong but I chose to have a refund. If they get the performance sorted I'll buy it again in a heartbeat as I did enjoy the driving/stages in the odd moments where there where no stutters, poor frame pacing, poor fps or ctd's.
That's completely understandable, if I weren't a reviewer and I had no reason to play this game past making content with it. I might have gotten so frustrated with my initial experience that I might have deleted it on the spot. I'm glad I stuck it out though, I'm having a lot of fun with it and I'm looking forward to playing it with my friends.
I love the game and graphics performance isn't that bad, just don't run ultra. Even 4090's are struggling with ultra, but high IMO looks kind of sharper anyway and almost doubled the framerates. On a display I get a much better depth perception than in DR2 where I struggled without the VR-depth. I'm not an Rally-expert, but the grip might be reasonable with modern tyre-compounds. There is certainly far less grip on these icy Monte Carlo stages in WRC than in DR2 and now it fits to the onboards. The grip on tarmac nowadays is insane IRL and so called 'hardcore sims' are IMO providing grip like 20 years ago. I've tried several cars in RBR mostly on tarmac and the grip and general handling I couldn't take any serious.

@@DouglasThompson 'Ultra' is just adding fuzzy effects and probably even delay to the graphics. In competitive games you never want to run ultra for that reason and completely the norm that ultra only really works on the current high-end hardware, not the past gen and not the 2nd best either.
@@Leynad778 When we spend $1000s of dollars on PC hardware, there are zero excuses to tell people "run on lower settings, until its fixed". How about developers actually finish their games before releasing them. Half baked games are becoming WAYYYYYY to common and people defending this practice are too. A 5950x and 3090 ( exactly what I have too) Should have zero issues running this game at any resolution and settings at high refresh rates.

This game feels different, I also discovered FOV settings are differently calculated in this game compared to DR2.0. I actually considered buying a used csldd for wheel settings videos, but I haven't found one for cheap enough. I'm thinking my settings right now would feel pretty decent for other direct drive users. I'm gonna tune it for a bit longer and tweak things but I'm planning a ffb video maybe even this week.

interesting fact, you generally use the brake and gas incorrectly because you very often do not use the hybrid drive correctly. but of course it's not surprising, first you need to know the route well :)
Ya it feels weird to me sometimes too but I'm just trying to enjoy what's here for now. This game won't last forever so it's nice to be part of a new game while the community is active.
Well, the next patch is coming out tomorrow. It is recommended to set the reflections to medium and the game should work better. the next patch is scheduled to be released in mid-December and will include more performance fixes. I hope that they will finally add dlss 3. Because in WRC generations it worked very well, I didn't feel any delay at all
@@DouglasThompson fsr looks bad in most games, which is why I personally chose NVIDIA mainly for this reason. especially since when you play in 4k with dlss it does a really good job. and I mean generally about the frame generator. The new game should support it right away, but it's difficult.

@ImCrz ya, that's a good idea, give them the money when they have the exact features you need/want. As for stage degradation, I sort of ignored it as soon as I learned it was exactly the same system as DR2.0, where it's a predetermined line that is tore up. So, nothing dynamic about it. I wanted to be able to see exact lines like say if I am in a club and competitors have done the stage already. But I'm happy it's there and I haven't tested it thoroughly enough to make any significant statements on whether it's good or not but I am glad it's at least present again in this title.
You nailed it...the game kinda sucks... but it is alot of fun! I have a 4090 and a 5800X3D and upon release it was a stuttery mess. Since the patch tho, I can now pretty much max it out to all ultra and leave native (all upscaling off) at 4K and maintain about 80-100fps. I'll take that. Oh yeah...ADD TELEMETRY OUTPUT THE GAME IS SO BORING WITH OUT IT! Honestly...this game is WRC 10 and Dirt 2.0 put into a blender... best description I can give myself. I agree with you tho on your video..well put. Also can you put out a "wheel settings video" I usually really like your wheel settings. Thanks! Keep up the good work my man!

I can’t agree more about damage model (itcould far more better!) and the co-driver. The French co-driver also is robotic. The DR2.0 French one was perfect a real Belgian co-driver! About the grip, I watched a video on that point from a guy, his name channel is Sim racing if I remember good. He make some good point about the torque retranscription in the game

Is this game perfect? Not at all, but I don't think I've had that much fun with a game in ages. The grip levels might be a bit too high, but it just feels intuitive to drive after a while in most cars.
Agreed, I would like certain things to change but as long as I'm driving the more modern cars, I just simply tell myself the grip is because these are super modern high spec cars and then I go back to being happy. Lol
at first you may have this impression. start driving on the limit in the WRC class and you will see that the grip is not as great as everyone says. You're driving in the WRC class like you're shopping for bread, no wonder the grip is high. What's more, different gravel has different grip. In my opinion, it is done very well and the people who complain the most are those who have played for 5 minutes and are already writing reviews about how bad this game is. and this is a better dirt rally 2.0 and it was supposed to be like that from the beginning and it still is. the biggest drawback of this game are technical errors. If codemasters master the new graphics engine, it's quite possible that in the next 7 years we'll get something really solid :)
Thanks for the effort. I´ll wait until it is discounted at least by 50% or I get sponsored by EA. The quality of the game is a shame (maybe just at the moment) and reviewing all reviews I have seen it is nothing special, just an ordinary rally game we have got loads of already.
Fair enough, I know there are many rally games available but this one does stand out to me, u don't think it's the best it can be right now but I think within a month or so we will see this game start shaping up and becoming much more presentable. I wish they would have released this current build as a "public beta" for a slightly discounted price because that's what it is. They are letting us find the issues because we are a much bigger testing pool.
@@SleepyPantsSimRacing That´s a shame, that the companies let the paying player test their products nowadays. I do not buy full price games anymore due to this practise. I really like rally games, but the discounts start just a few months after release and all fixes are done. Then I decide if they fixed the issues.

No it's not good in it's current state. It lacks basic sim racing features like VR, triple screen support, and telemetry. It also looks and runs horribly. So bad in fact that I can't tell if it's stuttering or the textures are just blurry even on my 4090.
Damn ya..I'm not far off from you performance wise and I'm getting poor results on some parts as well. I have heard running on high is a temporary solution.
you use too much fov!like 35 or so. you got it right when the car turns when you turn.not before or after, just then.and you must remember ea has its toes in this so dont expect to be rbr ps5 because of gamepad players who want also have some fun..it will never ever be like rbr physics wise but its looks way better than rbr and that ugly graphics that makes me want to throw up. and love of god dont use any fov calculators!
Ya the game feels unrealistically warp speed to me in regular fov but once I get my monitor setup raised up a bit ill be able to set my fov better. My new motion puts my whole rig up like 4 inches higher so I had to back my monitor up like 8 to 10 inches.
No VR? No telemetry readout? So no Buttkicker’s - no wind - no motion simulator - This game is truly useless to me. Huge disappointment as usual from EA. I got a refund.
