Welcome to the NAPE RU-vid site. Now we start this year with what was a webinar from NAPE’s library, produced by Mark Taylor, NAPE’s Vice Chair. Mark had originally recorded this interview for ‘Education on Fire’, his podcast. In this webinar, Mark invited Dr Anne Margaret Smith to talk about EAL and SEN with an audience for NAPE’s series of education webinars.
Margaret Anne Smith brings to this webinar a wealth of experience. As she says on her website:
I started my teaching career in Kenya and have since worked in Germany, Sweden, New Zealand and the UK, in private schools, primary schools, colleges, universities, people’s front rooms and all kinds of work places. I have had the pleasure of working with multilingual children, disgruntled teenagers, emergency rescue teams, weary factory workers, eccentric senior citizens (including a real live duchess!) and culture-shocked asylum seekers. Some of my students have had sensory impairments, some are dyslexic or have other SpLDs, some have chronic illnesses or physical disabilities, and I continue to learn something from each student I work with.
The reason why I chose this most excellent webinar is that NAPE is holding a SEND Conference with a number of speakers, on the 26th April at the University of Bedfordshire in Bedford. Please look out for further details on NAPE primary’s website. Of course, if you are a NAPE member you will be receiving a series of emails about the conference.
